Do you really have an advantage being a black male candidate who's parents went to college. Assuming you have good grades, and a 2000-2400 SAT score?

Does sports helps you in the application process when this school is academically based?

How does any school with others applying from the same school look at each applicant?

Does Yale look a every year of grades, i know Princeton doesn't look at freshman grades?

Can a stellar essay and test score make up for other, missing factors?

I was looking at numbers and Yale is the ivy that is applied to second to less then any other ivy. I wonder why?

I'm a junior, Black, Track Runner, Singer, Actor and I Dance.
Specifically the 400 and i looked at the current runners for that event and i was faster then some the freshmen/Sophomores when i was a sophomore.

Does Yale only want you super involved in one activity or can you be involved in multiple.

Whats gives me a hook i don't know of any other thing that makes me super special
other then the listed things. I'm related to Magic Johnson and Tina Turner.

Does the interview if you receive one could it help you tremendously?

If you know people and have connection to major players does that help?

Why does being a first generation college student give you such a big advantage?

I live in Arizona is that an advantage

So many questions!

Yes, but probably less so if your parents are both college grads and you are relatively well off.

yes, if you’re recruited

Confused. If you’re talking about if others from your HS are applying to the same college, I’m not sure.

yes

Depends of what’s missing. A great test score is very well and good, but your activities outside the class are as, if not more important. However, a stellar essay has the potential to overlook a lack in one specific area.

Because no one wants a rejection letter

Either way. Just show your passion. Me personally, I’m well balanced. Others here are extremely well lopsided

race, legacy, recruited athlete, 1st gen college, underrepresented state or country (minor), national winner (Siemens or some other major contest)

Not really. The saying goes that a bad interview hurts you more than a good interview helps. Do it anyway, it’s a great way to really learn about the school.

oui, sort of. If you’re directly related to say, Eli Whitney or something, sure! Or if you know an alumni very well, that can help as well.

$. Don’t quote me, but I believe that having first year college students is good for business, and adds to the overall marketability of the school.

The search function on this site is a wonderful tool.

But, since I feel like being nice:

Do you really have an advantage being a black male candidate who’s parents went to college. Assuming you have good grades, and a 2000-2400 SAT score?

Yes.

Does sports helps you in the application process when this school is academically based?

Yes.

How does any school with others applying from the same school look at each applicant?

Within the context of their school offerings.

Does Yale look a every year of grades, i know Princeton doesn’t look at freshman grades?

Yes.

Can a stellar essay and test score make up for other, missing factors?

No, nothing can, but they can help.

I was looking at numbers and Yale is the ivy that is applied to second to less then any other ivy. I wonder why?

Not sure. Wasn’t aware of this.

I’m a junior, Black, Track Runner, Singer, Actor and I Dance.
Specifically the 400 and i looked at the current runners for that event and i was faster then some the freshmen/Sophomores when i was a sophomore.

Is this a question?

Does Yale only want you super involved in one activity or can you be involved in multiple.

Do what you want to do, not what Yale wants you to do. Follow this advice, and Yale will like you.

Whats gives me a hook i don’t know of any other thing that makes me super special
other then the listed things. I’m related to Magic Johnson and Tina Turner.

LOL. If you can incorporate that into an essay, that would be cool, but that’s not a hook. Hooks are institutional requirements that the college needs to fill, so your URM status is a good enough hook.

Does the interview if you receive one could it help you tremendously?

Probably not “tremendously,” unless you bring a your previously unmentioned Nobel Prize in Physics.

If you know people and have connection to major players does that help?

Players? And I guess they would, if you know how to use them.

Why does being a first generation college student give you such a big advantage?

It gives you an advantage.

I live in Arizona is that an advantage

Yes.

Good luck!

Damn, wright. You beat me to it!
