The point of my school is to get as much college credit as possible, we offer graduation requirements and like 2 electives. We also use an rotating iterated schedule that requires us to take college classes that are face-to-face outside of school. We'll I absolutely HAVE to take General Chem I and II, and they're not offered online (for obvious reasons) and there is no before school section and only one after school section (That ends at 8:50). I'm also required to sit in the online lab when I don't have a face-to-face high school class and I'm going to have to go straight from my high school to my CC (We get out REALLY late at my HS).

So here's my week first semester:

T,Th, F 9:45 am (Catch bus)-5:00pm (Get home from classes)

M, W 9:45 am (Catch bus)-9:00 pm/u

Yes, I will literally be going to class for 11 hour and 15 minutes straight. I'm going to have to pack my dinner! lol With EC's I'm just going to be out of my mind. Does anybody else have anything as crazy going on?

“9:45 am”
Lucky you :)

Even that’s not worth 11 hours and 15 minutes of classes.

Whoa lol, what if you burn out?

I’m going to try to reason with my school into changing a few policy (which could allow me to take the same number of classes and get home drastically earlier). But other than that I really don’t have a choice about my schedule. I don’t have a very difficult schedule, but the number of hours is just going to drive me crazy.

Does everyone have to do this? Or is this for only super smart people like you? :]

I’d just transfer schools if I were you… I like my school ending at 2:45.

They either have some crazy thing like this, they won’t walk away with nearly any college credit, they are staying 5 years, or they simply don’t realize how screwed they are.

There’s so much red tape in taking college courses from a “normal” high school in my state (which is what I’d still have to do because of limited course offerings in my county) so this really isn’t a choice.

If we didn’t have a rotating schedule, I could fit Chem in the day and be out of classes by 5. -sigh-

Two days of my weekly schedule next year may look like this depending on which section I get -
High school classes 8:00-3:00
Band rehearsal 3:00-5:00
College classes 5:30-8:00

I really hope not. I applaud you, try not to burn out lol.

Why do you have to pack dinner? Why don’t you just eat after school?

because he’ll get home at 9 pm…

There’s just not enough time between when my high school gets out and when my college class starts.

You and I are going to start a support group lol Which would work well since we’re in the same state.

I feel like the title of this thread is a bit of a bad idea.

Why? It’s not derogatory in any way.

And he can’t eat at that time because…?

I’m really going to eat supper at 9? I’d rather not wait 8 hours between lunch and supper. Not eating supper would be an even bigger contributor to burning out.

On the bright side, colleges will love you. Assuming that you maintain a decent GPA.

Because it reinforces the idea of racial behavior. The OP is saying that going to school from 9-9 is an Asian thing to do. Associating behavior with a race, even if it’s a positive association, is generally a bad idea. Then, the Korean-American kid who can’t keep an A in APUSH feels less Asian. Then, people get the idea that one can “act [insert race]” here and they spread it, perhaps negatively, with other races. Obviously the post is more a symptom than a source, but it’s still not the best idea for a thread title anyone ever had.

Positive stereotypes are harmful too.

I normally eat supper at around 9:30 (actually I just finished right now). I normally don’t eat anything substantial for lunch (half a bagel?). I normally don’t feel tired until 8 AM the next morning.

well, as i don’t live in the states, all i can say is that korean schools and american schools are really different.

my usual schedule in high school: 5 days a week and every other saturday.

6:30AM catch bus, 8:00AM 1st period starts, periods punctuated by 10minute breaks and lunch and dinner are 40 minutes apiece. 10:00PM is when classes end and since i live an hour away from school, and traffic jams are crazy in Seoul, i arrive home at about 11:20PM.

on saturdays the morning schedule is same but thankfully we end at 1:00PM.

and no, i’m not bragging. sometimes i think i live in a communist country.
