I've recieved an Associates in Electronic Systems (AA), but now want to go for Engineering

The pay for an electronic technician (40K median San Diego) is just not the pay I want to work up from. I also believe I have the ability to continue with math (Taking Calc next semester) and in two/three years (Along with a part time/full time job as an electronic technician) be ready to transfer to a UC or state university.

I guess I am starting from ground zero once again as I work towards my bachelors. My question is this, it may take up to five years for me to get this degree, simply because I don’t believe I will be able finish all the advisory courses for another three years. (5 math(calc1 - Dif. Equ.), 3 phys, 1 chem, 1 C++ class)

Will this associates, along with three years work experience as a technician help me in any way in applying to university’s? Do they even care if I have experience in the field or not? My UC GPA is at a 3.19, but I am fully confident with the over 40 units I need to complete, I can boost that to a good 3.8. (I have one F I need to retake too.)

Thanks for your time. -Joe

The work experience will not be too important but your academic record at the CC is essential. Make sure that you keep performing well in your classes as you take the required courses for engineering.
