Ivies, Stanford, MIT - Reaches?

I don't know what brings me to post this...perhaps morbid curiosity. But anyway, here goes:

Tests:
SAT - 1600 (took the old SAT, dangit, so I probably should take the new one. that's at least what my counselor says. Any opinions on this?)
SAT II - Writing (790), Math IIC (800)
AP - Amer. History (5), Biology (5), Calculus AB (5)
4/414 class rank
4.0 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) unweighted

School:
- AP courses: 2 last year, 2 this year, and perhaps 5 next year.

ECs:
- National Honors Society
- Speech & Debate (3rd place state qualifier in Public Forum; also received National Forensic League Degree of Merit)
- Mock Trial (3 years)
- Volunteer French teacher to elementary school students
- Hospital volunteer
- Mentor at nearby urban middle school
- Leadership Council
- District Representative at the Int'l Science and Engineering Fair last year; received a 2nd place Air Force Award
- Received Superior ratings at both District and State level science fairs, as well as some awards there.
- I do a lot of independent scientific research in the lab at a nearby university. Perhaps an internship will be in the making this summer.

Sports:
- Cross country (3 years)

Admittedly, I'm lacking in the "leadership" area.

I'm an Asian-American female and a junior at a suburban public school.

What are my chances as of now of going to an Ivy, or perhaps Stanford or MIT? I'm also thinking about Swarthmore. Are those reaches? I really can't gauge my chances, and I'd like some outside opinions.

Thanks in advance.

superb.
when do you plan on applying to unis?
i heard that competition for places at mit are high for asians, you might want to check out the mit forum (if you aren't already doing so), it's has alot of useful information now that matt and mr. barkowitz have joined the forum. There's also plenty of anticipation since application letters are arriving in a few days.

Wow. That's all I've got to say about those standardized test scores.

Thanks for the advice. I will hope to have finished applying in December of this year. (Yikes! Coming up soon!).

Speaking of Asians, I have to say, there seem to be a disproportionate amount of them/us on these boards. =)

Excellent chances. Some schools like Stanford accept the old sat, so don't worry about messing up your perfect score!

I don't think that any of the big schools require the new SAT as long as you have the old + writing, and unless you really want that extra 10 points on writing (which won't matter at all), don't bother. You might get rejected from some of the super-selective schools (Stanford, Harvard, MIT etc.), but if you apply to a lot of them you will probably get in at least one. I'd say MIT is your best shot out of the top schools, as you are a female with excellent test scores and rank.

your female and if you want to major in engineering, MIT is a definite reach/match

Caltech is much more reach/match

Stanford = good chance, but you're asian so I can't really say

Swarthmore = match

get more leadership stuff; that'll help
