Please chance me for MIT, Columbia and Cornell.

Also, I will not be applying for any financial aid.

You have an excellent chance of getting in, as good as any one elses I suppose. But that means you could still get rejected from those schools.

Thanks Crystal. I am dreaming of MIT EA, but worried if denied, what will be regular chances in Columbia and Cornell?

You have about an average chance of getting into MIT, probably a bit less. Being Indian will hurt you but everything else is good, however you are still lacking some excellent math/science achievements. (Columbia SH program is very selective but i dont think it would ‘wow’ MIT).

Better chance at columbia. SHP will probably help you there. Same with cornell, your stats are perfect for Cornell.

Overall:

MIT: High reach
Columbia: Mid Reach
Cornell: Mid-low reach.

So you may get rejected from these three schools, accepted to one, two, or all. It is impossible to predict, but you definitely have a solid shot in getting in.

Thanks Cortana.

Do you think applying for ED will help in Columbia or Cornell?

you are an ORM from an overrepresented state. I would consider Cornell ED.

I can’t speak with experience, but based on looking at a different thread of people who got accepted to ivies, I think you’re chances are great. It’s more like:

MIT: Mid Reach
Columbia: Low Reach
Cornell: Match

But then again, many top schools are known for being unpredictable in their selections lol

btw it may also depend on the rigor and competitiveness of your school as well. Obviously it may be more impressive to be a salutatorian at certain schools than it might be at others, especially at schools with a much larger class size. Otherwise, the rest of your stats are awesome

Academically, it appears that you have done fairly well. ACT is good and rank 2 is fairly solid (the APUSH and Lang class must be tough at your school for you to still be sal.) Though there appears to be nothing outstanding, you appear to have some leadership as well.

Despite your success MIT is a tough cookie, especially for asian/indian males. You’ll be competing with a lot of people who have done amazing things in your demographic for that spot. Columbia would also have to be placed in the reach category for now. Cornell is the one that you would have a good shot at.

Thank you Waverly, SAT128 and dblazer for your thoughts. I am just confused. I am never interested in APUSH and hence are the low marks. B+ in English is good in my school.

My courses are very Rigorous and my school is competitive too. This year one girl got into Princeton, another one to Columbia and one guy to Cornell and UPEN.

I would apply ED to Columbia if I were you

STEM Asian male

MIT: High Reach (EA or RD)
Columbia: High Reach (RD) Reach (ED)
Cornell: Solid Chances (RD), Good Chances (ED)

Thanks a lot Crystal and 20more. It gives me confidence though my dream is MIT. But my mistake, I screwed up APUSH.

Cornell - reasonable chance
Columbia - mid to high
MIT - tough cookie
