All Ivy Camps are done. Some are still sending emails, some we have not heard from at all, and now one has invited son to a Summer Recruiting Day the weekend before two a days start. The coach has made clear that this event is an unofficial visit. My son attended the school's camp earlier in the summer.

Does anyone have any experience with these post-summer camp unofficial recruiting visits for rising seniors? I assume it is another step in the winnowing process, and is a good sign, but I am somewhat puzzled as to how typical this is. Thoughts?

My son attended four Ivy camps last summer. While the four schools had different levels of communication (telephone and e-mail) afterwards, there were no invitations for unofficial visits prior to the two official visit invitations he eventually received. I would consider this a good sign that the school is still interested. It may be a way for them to try to keep up your son’s interest while waiting for the official visits to start. If they hve already done a pre-read and you have already visited the campus, I am not sure why they would want him to return prior to official visits.
