ivy league transfers?

Let me clarify, can a person with low stats CC-wise in HIGH school (3.0 1800) and like a 3.8-4.0 in a CC have a chance to transfer to an ivy.

I know that the ivies are a great place to reinvent yourself but they are above all strong academic institutions.

No, they are not.

Sorry, the "university" in the end and the reputation must have confused me. What are they?

I dont get what you mean martini

Firebird, it will be tough without raising the SAT for the Ivies. Some top schools have easier transfer admission (namely Georgetown, UNC-CH, Michigan, UCs), so you have a shot at those for sure.

As for this sub 3.3 talk, I had a 3.35 GPA and got into Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, and Duke. Of course I had great high school stats, great ECs, and was coming from Columbia. But it can be done.

From what I've heard, schools like Cornell are trying to find more transfer students from CCs.

Cornell is the one Ivy that is more CC friendly. Yale is too, but you need to have excelled in high school for Yale.

Fortunately or me, Cornell is the only ivy I am interested in with the other exception of Columbia. And it cant hurt that I am hooked in many ways and have a rising trend every year

The problem with many of the other ivies is that they seem to be have a never-ending supply of people like martini

Congrats on your accomplishments skipper. Where are you now and how do you like it? Were you a sophomore or junior transfer?

gomestar- it seems as though you are pretty familiar with Cornell's transfer students. Does the transfer class at Cornell have much diversity as far racial, social, and academic backgrounds?

Thanks! I was a sophomore transfer. I actually chose Dartmouth but I graduated in 2002. I chose it for a bunch of reasons including the fact that its so great to transfer into. You really get many special opportunities to integrate very well there, orientation is awesome, great housing, etc.

Firebird, why Cornell and Columbia? Those two are night and day socially.

well, i go to cornell, and i want columbia badly, i think that social stuff is hard to predict, as it can vary for person to person

one of my best friends goes to Columbia and LOVES IT. I have another friend that goes to NYU and HATES IT. Both swore that they were city kids...nothing else.
