Ivy Observations

nicely done muppet.. I was waiting for someone to bring that one up...

Hee. I love it all- someone has a version of Drink a Highball, but I forget who.

Harvard's "chorus" for Cayuga's Waters is "Cornell eats / Cornell eats */ Cornell eats ** raw..."

I think ours is cleverer.

Another thing to note: Penn has the 3rd largest University police force in the country. In addition, there are also tons of security guards and chaperones who partol the campus all night/day. I've never once felt unsafe living in Philly-in fact, its just the opposite. Just about every time I walk back from somewhere at night, I'll pass at least 5 Penn police officers.

quick streetsmarts tips for a suburban girl anyone? oh and about the quality of student looks category, I wonder if the admissions officers use applicants' pics to admit attractive people........

picture! picture! picture! picture!

Try to avoid wandering around the streets alone at 3:00AM. Or at any time when "under the influence".

An unaccomanied person wearing headphones is not as aware of his surroundings as he should be.

Except for a small section around south 13th St. virtually all of Center City is safe to walk at night. Take one of the NSO walking tours to get an idea of what's where.

Trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable when you leave a building late at night, just step back in and call 898-WALK for an escort.

I was a suburban boy and my own instincts and common sense were indeed enough of a base from which to learn the nuances of street smarts.
