Folks, stop your nonsense

Princeton and Yale are tremendous schools and any attempts to make one better than the other is plain silly. It all depends on the individual student. For some, Yale is a better fit, for others its Princeton.

Princeton Undergraduate
Stanford B-School MBA
(PS: we all know which one is better anyway, but we will keep that secret)

Again, it’s safe to ignore most of what this particular poster writes or pastes from other message boards.

Here are the facts regarding LSAT scores.

Princeton graduates do extremely well in law school admissions and on the LSAT exam.

Comparison of Average LSAT scores for graduating seniors from one year ago (180 is a perfect score)

166—Harvard
165—Princeton, Yale
164—Stanford
163—Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke, MIT, Penn
162—Chicago

ok Even though Princeton grads get high LSAT score, very few will get admitted to Yale Law. Princeton applicant are treated as 2nd class citizen, while Yale UG applicants receive special preferential treatment. That is the sad part of being princeton student. What is the point of getting high LSAT socre if you can’t get into top law school ?

Please note that at MD PhD JD MBA programs at other top schools, special preferential treatment is given to their own undergrad applicants.

Setting aside the fact that this statement is nonsensical and untrue, what I can’t figure out is whether the OP thinks it’s a good thing or a bad thing.

german_car what year were you rejected from Princeton? It’s time to move on my friend…

I’m sorry, but the idea that Princeton is somehow inferior to Yale is absolutely absurd (USNWR agrees with me). Princeton students are given a truly first class education that is respected throughout the world – I’m inclined to think that Princeton students who complain that their Alma Mater is giving them a “disadvantage” are nothing more than whiny, spoiled children who didn’t apply themselves at school and are shocked to find out that simply having an Ivy on your app will not let you coast through life.

This is not about which school is superior … It is about policies of graduate school admissions committee. At Yale Law school, Yale UG gets preferential treatment no matter how good priceton is . That is the reality.

Then go to some other law school. Sheesh. This is really ridiculous.

Well. At Stanford Law Stanford UG gets preferential treatment. At Columbia Law Columbia UG gets preferential treatment. … Harvard UG gets preferential treatment from Harvard Med Business Law … etc…

So where do Princeton grads go to law school? Fred’s Law School and Lawnmower Repair Institute? What you’re saying is totally ridiculous.

Well, then, move on. The earth doesn’t revolve around one law school, so the fact that that law school may favor kids from its own UG is, well, just what it is.

Don’t diss FLSLRI. I got a JD w/ a Certificate in Small Gas Engine Repair there and I’ve got to tell you…life is pretty good.

sherpa, I know you’re a phony because FLSLRI still issues LL.B.s.

“So where do Princeton grads go to law school?”

Cooley.

^^Nice catch, Hunt. I was just trying to use terminology that the HS kids here would be more likely to understand. Note, too, that I mentioned a SGER Certificate in deference to this being the Princeton subforum although, as you surely know, FLSLRI doesn’t offer Certificares and didn’t recognize SGER as a distinct subspecialty of their Mechanical Lawn Implements Program until this year.

Go Leafbaggers!

Hurrah for the Old Green and Gray!

Actually, German Car has a point here. Based on the chart provided by #7, Princeton graduates have lower admission rates than Yale’s in every top 10 Law school except UVA. This cannot be explained away by just favoring the undergraduates from their own universities. Perhaps grade deflation did take a toll on Princeton kids. Alternatively, grade inflation in Yale has a positive impact on their graduates’ admission rate. Or both.

It does not matter how excellent Princeton education is, Yale Law admission comittee decided to give strong preferences to Yale UG applicants. Very few Princeton UG will be attending Yale Law, even though Princton UG are highly qualified.

I think this thread is idiotic AND I think german_car is a ■■■■■ without much grasp of English grammar (he sounds fresh-off-the-boat Asian).

Princeton has a smaller class size than its immediate peers. This is why it might lag slightly in top law admits. Interestingly, at Harvard Law, it falls behind its sports arch-rival Penn in students enrolled. The order is: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Penn, Princeton.
