J-camp - should I even apply?

<p>In my school, only juniors and seniors can do newspaper. I plan on doing it next year, and becoming very involved.
But does this completely ruin my chances of getting j-camp this year? Is it not worth applying?
I reallyyy want to do it but I don't have time to write 2 awesome essays for something I'm not going to get :P
Also how competitive is it? How many students are chosen?</p>

<p>About 42 students are chosen and it is competitive since it is all expense paid. However, you will definitely not get it if you don’t apply.</p>

<p>Yes, of course you should. I got in without any prior journalism experience, but I was interested in writing/journalism, and it showed through my essays.</p>
