@CourtneyThurston for the transfer scholarship?
Not transfer, but regular undergraduate.
@NashvilleCat Congrats to him! So your son is a high school senior now, correct?
Yes, But now the dilemma… For the past 2 years he has lived and breathed for one college. But enough money wasn’t offered, still needed 22,000 more per year. Last weekend we visited an admitted student day at another college that he has a full ride to and he did an about face and fell in love with this college and now wants to go there. We were not sure if he was influenced by the money or not, so we are making another 14 hour round trip this weekend to go back to admitted student day at the first college just so he can try to make the best choice. (First world problems-so thankful!)
@NashvilleCat I know that’s got to be tough. You’re a great parent to go through that for and with him!
I haven’t received an email or call. Anyone else in the same boat?
@cornyandiknowit I haven’t received anything either.
@cornyandiknowit @lethallydia Same here. The calls are probably going out in waves and then maybe emails are last. I don’t even remember what number I put on the app.
Confirmed: I’m a JCKF College Scholar from Pennsylvania! Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Congrats!
Congratulations to you @CourtneyThurston !
I still haven’t gotten a call or email.
@shankar334 Neither have I. Hopefully we get something tomorrow!
@CourtneyThurston, congratulations fellow Pennsylvanian! Would you mind sharing your stats? My daughter was going to apply, but I found out about the scholarship too late and she wasn’t able to get everything done in time.
@shankar334 Have you heard anything?
@lethallydia Nope! I called today but couldn’t get through to anyone. I think I didn’t win because I figure they would’ve told me by now.
So I am reading these threads where people have applied for the jkcf scholarship and it seems like some of you do quite a bit of volunteering and extracurriculars, and my question to you is how many units are you taking? My other questions would be what is your major and do you live with your parents? I ask because while I am PTK VP, that is about all I have time for aside from my studies and I was taking 18 units of only math and science last semester and now am taking 21 units, also just math and science. I seriously sleep no more than three hours a night just so that I can complete all homework and stay current in my classes so there simply isn’t any more time left to get in any extra volunteering. Seems like almost all of us have a 4.0 so the fact that I have a 4.0 probably isn’t going to matter much. It doesn’t seem as though that they take into account how rigorous and demanding our academic schedules are.
@cmbradley2015, you are on the wrong page. Here is the link to the transfer page: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18306944#Comment_18306944
I just called the foundation because I hadn’t heard anything. They said we should find out at the end of this week or the beginning of next. I’m just confused now.
@cornyandiknowit That is confusing, since some people were already notified. Maybe they’re releasing decisions in waves. Are you a college student or a high school senior?
