Hi everyone,
Does any of you start working on your application yet?
I just submitted mine and is anxiously waiting for the results. This is so bad for your heart @@
I read other posts and saw them talking about phase II. What is that exactly? And when is that?
Hope to have more people in this thread and hear your story

You don’t have to worry. This year they only do 1 phase application, last year they did a 2 phase application.

Yes, this year is much less stressful than before. With the one phase application there’s less to worry about. I wish you luck, and if there are any questions you need answered please feel free to ask!
I’m not really confident because I’m not that super active student comparing to others. But having hope is still better than none
Thank you!!!
What I have seen in who they choose are people who understand their path and purpose. Overcoming obstacles to get an education in order to “pay back”, or help make the world a better place. I think a lot of it is in the essays…
any news on this?
karen16994, I know exactly how you feel.I am anxiously awaiting as well.Good luck!!
I applied for the transfer scholarship too. I can’t wait to find out. Good luck, everyone!!!
I am seriously worried because this will have a big impact in the future. Some people are talking about some results in mid March, I am not sure if that is ours. The site says we should expect results by the end of this month. I can’t wait.
Do any one know how many applications they receive this year?
@Georgemk if you applied for the transfer scholarship, I talked to someone the last week of February and was told the end of March.
@adorse thanks very much, we are waiting patiently. Did you also apply for the transfer scholarship?
@georgemk yes, I did. I don’t know how patient my waiting is. It seems like the end of this month is so far away.
@adorse the same here. I am running out of patients, and I don’t know if they will call or email us. Which college did you apply from?
@georgemk I applied for mostly art schools, but I applied for a few others like Drexel University and University of Maryland. I am a fashion design major and I don’t have the option of going to school in-state because there is only one fashion school in state for me which I don’t trust the school a lot. The school that is in-state is only about four years old. I believe last year was their first graduating class and they had five people graduating from the fashion program. So it leaves me with only going to schools out of state and that seems like the expensive option since art schools already are expensive. What schools did you apply for? And what is your major?
@adorse26 I for John Hopkins, Brown and University of Nevada. I am studying to be a public health epidemiologists and so far John Hopkins and Brown are well known for public health, and I will only be able to afford if I get this transfer scholarship. University of Nevada is the last resort if the scholarship fails.
@Georgemk, that’s how I feel about University of Maryland. It’s my last resort. I won’t be able to go there for fashion design, but I would be able to go there for business. Any school I go to for fashion design I would want to double major in business. Drexel is my top pick, but without the scholarship it might not be an option. I got a really good financial aid package for Drexel, but my mother is disabled so I wouldn’t be able to afford the difference. If you don’t mind me asking, where are you from and what community college are you coming from? I am from Maryland and I am coming from Montgomery College.
@adorse wow I learn there has been alot of past scholars from your college. I am from Ghana West Africa. I am currently in Fernly, Nevada. I am in Truckee Meadows Community college. In this college there was no supervisor or proffesor to help me with my application. they have never even heard of this scholarship, so I doubt of winning this scholarship.
@Georgemk, I didn’t get any help from the adviser at my school who worked with scholars before who won. I ended up going to a professor who wrote recommendations for past scholars to help me with my essays. At my college, they had meetings to help applicants with the application which was during the my classes so I couldn’t go. And the person who usually helps applicants kind of had an attitude with me because at first she didn’t believe that I was good enough to apply so I didn’t want to work with her for my application so I mostly did my application by myself.
@adorse26 it will really be good good to win in order to prove a point
