Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship

How long ago did you guys get the emails? I haven’t gotten anything so far, and everything in my spam (which goes back almost all the way to when I was notified) also doesn’t have anything.

A fb friend of mine called and asked about the emails…I think it is safe to assume that if you were not contacted for further info after the semi notification, you are out of the running (at least that’s what they told her).

Did any of you get the email about college acceptances and financial aid packages?

It seems like some people on here are doing the TRANSFER scholarship while others are doing the scholarship for seniors… @samantha3 which of the two was your fb friend applying to? And @dprice386 When did you recurve that email?

@MasterLillyclaw I got the email yesterday. I am referring to the College Scholarship for seniors.

@MasterLillyclaw I’m also referring to the one for high school seniors

@MasterLillyclaw you can probably call and ask for an update on the status of your application

Drat, I was hoping people who were asked for more info might have been doing the transfer scholarship :frowning:
@Samantha3 Do you think they’ll give out any information when they’re releasing results in about three days to a week? It seems kinda near the end to be asking about the application status, but I guess maybe if it’s before the March 25 deadline for some people’s info, it might be okay?

@dprice386 @MasterLillyclaw - After I sent the reply with the Colleges that I was accepted to the reply said “Final notifications for the College Scholarship will occur in the next few weeks.”

@nonetaken yeah, i just got the same email

I got both emails (College Scholarship) requesting tax info and then what schools I was accepted into. I also saw someone on fb (I feel like it’s the same person) who called about not receiving emails and they were told (after having their information pulled up) that they were out of the running. So yea, it seems we’re potential winners on the fence and they need additional information to sort us out

I hardly believe that going from 600 to 50 is ever easy and so if they already have some people thrown out, requesting information is pointless if you’re not still being considered.

@Philomath123 but the real question is… how many of potential winners are left

We’l find out in one week, won’t we?

@Philomath123 they said next few weeks, but i expect less than 2 weeks. we will see. good luck!

So I emailed and asked, here’s my response:
“Not all of our semifinalists were required to send in additional information. Some students received these emails for various reasons to clarify parts of their application, as for the others who did not, had applications that needed no further information to move forward to the application review process. There is no difference between applicants who were asked to send in more information vs. those who were not.
As for the announcement date for the finalists, we currently do not have a set date. We appreciate your patience with this process. Best of luck.”

@MasterLillyclaw that contradicts what @Samantha3 then…

So does that mean it won’t be in by the end of March? Why bother giving a time frame for decisions if they weren’t going to meet that deadline? Grrr.

I was notified one year ago today. I’d expect it to be soon. Scholars will receive calls. Non-selected applicants will receive an email a few days after the Scholars are called.

What were your scores?

Has anyone heard anything yet? I’m a semifinalist, and I am getting anxious!! I was not asked to provide any further information after my initial notification of a semifinalist. Has anyone sent additional information?
