So I just read on a different thread that someone was told there are about 400 semifinalists. Not sure how true that is. Just thought I would share
Hey Auggie! Do you mind sharing the link to that forum? This wait is killing me.
Hi guys, so I called the Foundation today and they told me that there are 150 semi-finalists in total. This is so confusing.
It makes sense. They only need to eliminate about half to get the final 85.
150 makes me feel a lot better than 400!
Good luck and God bless, everyone!
Yep! 150 makes me feel so much better! It’s so crazy that we are so close to the end of this. Whether we got it or not, this forum has been so helpful and I appreciate all of you for the information and kind words you guys have had to share. You guys rock and you all deserve this!
Is the 150 semifinalist straight from the foundation? Or are you just guessing?
Do you guys think they’ll let winners know through e-mail? or strictly through the phone/planned event?
From my understanding, the last time they had a two-tiered system, they informed the winners’ school reps a week before they called the winners to give them a chance to surprise the winners with the info. A week later, they would call you in case your rep didn’t tell you for some reason and then after all the winners had been informed, everybody else received an email.
I also called but the rep. told me that information she was not inform of how many semi-finalist were selected. So confuse but I also hope there was a total of 150 semi-finalist than 400.
Only a few more day guys wish everyone good luck!!!
I do think it means something, otherwise would be meaningless for them to choose 400 and not the final 85 recipients. Congratulations to all of you who made it this long
@pearsonx what?
I was talking about being chosen as one of the 400 semifinalists
Hey! In my school there are four honors college semifinalists as well. Is the honors college director in your school called Virginia?
That is correct Augggie95! The schools are informed first to allow them to plan surprises, and told of the latest possible date they can tell students. No matter what (even if a school drops the ball), on a specific date, all winners will be informed via phone call. Rejections are done via email.
When I won, my school waited until the last possible day to tell me, so I watched buddy after buddy on this forum announce their wins and become increasingly nervous. So don’t get discouraged if other folks hear before you!
@nekozuki but you know we are all still going to freak out until we know… I’m just ready for this waiting to be over…
This wait is killing me. Let’s pull through everyone- 150 sure sounds hopeful!
I was told the number when I called up the foundation. The lady also said that the results will be out within the next couple of weeks. I hate this suspense.
Guys, let’s all calm down. We are ALMOST there. A couple of more weeks! =;
Anyways, we should probably start planning a party, during the Cooke Scholars Weekend trip, after we ALL win. <:-P :D/
