For all of those that called on Monday and were told they were out please call again I just called right now this morning and a lady answer me this time and told me I was not out at all and apologized about the rep. who told me I was out. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK!!!
Alright folks, received official word back from JKCF: “No semifinalist has been told that they will not be receiving the scholarship.”
If you are a semi-finalist, you are still in the running, regardless of what you’ve been told over the phone. Now, remember, you MUST have been informed you are a semi-finalist for this to apply. But until the final decisions are announced, no one is excluded. There may have been some confusion over the phone, but leave that behind you. You’re still in the running, so take a breath, face forward, and focus on your final semester

Pls can anyone confirm excactly when decisions will be given. I called and this guy told me ending of april. I dont see why when the email said end of march.
@graceunworthy I don’t imagine anyone know exactly when decisions will be made. I figured that everyone will hear at different times during April. I would suggest just hanging on and letting it surprise you next month.
Yeah. I feel they should do something about that rep though. He offered to tell me my status and I told him no. I dont get it. Other people are saying no one is out yet and they havnt decided and he wants to check my status?
@graceunworthy My school’s rep told me today that everyone should know by April 5th. Your school’s rep should know next week and they have a week to tell you.
@Auggie95 did your school rep hear the date April 5 from the foundation?
@sat4498 The specific date was not said. However, she was informed on Tuesday 03/22, that everyone will be aware within the next two weeks (thus, 04/05). This could mean one of two things - The school reps will know by april 5th (which means we will know within a week of that) or that we, as applicants, will know by april 5th.
Obviously, they are still keeping everything super secret. I just want to know. i’m freaking out!
Dates for results are never accurate. Expect to potentially wait much longer.

Quiet Day today. How Is everyone holding up?
Even though I’m new and a little late to the forum, Ill introduce myself for the sake of getting a conversation started.
I’m Auggie! I’m 21 and am a first-year college student. I live a painfully dull life but have huge ambitions to change that. Quite honestly, I applied for the scholarship with no hope of getting it. I knew I would be up against some pretty great people. I don’t have volunteer work under my belt and while I boast a 4.0 GPA after 4 hellish semesters of between 18 and 20 credit hours each (and working 30+ hours/wk), I don’t think that will be enough for the foundation. I wrote a lot about my ambitions to become a doctor and how my medical journey started as a combat medic for the Army. I went to great lengths to describe, accurately, how I planned to execute my extremely long education. My finances are not extremely low but they are definitely within the “most students are eligible to receive the pell grant” range. Even though I’m a semifinalist, I’m still not banking on anything right now.

From what you just said you sound very persistent and that is part of the selection process and criteria that the JCKF panel looks for when they look at the application. I wish you and everyone from the forum the BEST!!!

@Auggie95 Be positive nothing as been said. If you were selected as a semi-finalist and you have made it this far. Why loose your hope? The JCKF panel selected you as a semi-finalist there had to be a good reason. So dont loose your hope.
I agree I’m also ready to hear back. But, soon we will.
