Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship 2015-2016

@graceunworthy Preach! #Real talk.

I recall I was told the same that some of the advisors that greaceunworthy mentioned, mid - late April. I don’t know if you guys remember it, I posted it on this thread. Nevertheless, I think that if they had all the winners already chosen,we should hear way before the end of the month.

According to JKCF, the winners are definitely finalized.

As for why it would take that long: 85 is not an incredible number, but it is also not small. In addition, there are only 85 winners, but there are up to 400 semifinalists. Those who did not receive the scholarship have to be notified, as well.

It would not surprise me if winners hear back quicker, as in previous years. But the last notifications - which is inclusive of not being awarded the scholarship - will take some time to all be sent out. Based upon the fact that the semi-finalist notifications went out in multiple batches, it would not surprise me if their communication server only allows X number of emails to be sent out at a time (this is actually fairly common).

I checked this link out for the new 2016 scholars and it has a bunch of disabled labels. I don’t think it’s ready for prime time. The timetables are not complete and the links to most documents are not active. They need this front facing stuff finished before they start notifying people or they will get a load of unwanted calls.
Once they are fully ready to receive us they will send out the invites.

keep in mind, the small JKCF team is also planning scholar’s weekend, awarding summer internship stipends, and other advocacy work. it’s a very busy time for them. it goes without saying but good luck everybody.

First time posting. My friend who is also a semifinalist told me about this forum. I am so nauseous right now lol. I am a disabled combat veteran, husband, and father of three. This amazing scholarship would completely change our lives. Like someone said earlier, it’s the journey not the destination that counts. I am so happy to have gotten this far. Best of luck to everyone!

@optimisticky Can you send them my appreciation, please? Everyone I have spoken with has been pleasant and respectful, despite managing multiple scholarship applications and other assorted things.

Interesting enough, some of you guys already created a work plan for the people in the committee. That shows how much anxiety there is in this thread! At this point, it isn’t anymore about winning or not, but getting out of this suspense

At least, for me

@pearsonx I agree! I would just like a huge uplift or a gentle let down at this point. Hopefully we will all meet one another at the Scholar’s weekend!

@Deviantdex hi there, seeing as you’re a veteran, how do you not get any sort of tuition waiver or any help from the GI bill?

@TuveeMD The Army advertises that they pay for school but not all expenses are always covered. In addition, a lot of schools are, unfortunately, hard to work with when it comes to veterans and federal education benefits.

Well people, could this be the day ? Who knows? Hahahaha. I just hope we are able to find out soon ! “The next couple of weeks” is starting to seem like infinity

@pearsonx youre not helping my ability to be patient.

Going off the 2013 thread, they started receiving rejection letters on 04/12. Doomsday is upon is boys and girls; fasten your seat belts, hold on to your cats, and get ready - the journey is upon us.

Dooms day? Really @Jouuuu ?

Well, guys, if you get an email today, it doesn’t necessarily means that you were rejected. Before you throw your mind into an oblivious state, READ the email, then, you can do whatever you please, even if it means throwing your cat out of the window!!

@graceunworthy usually I would have a witty response, but I’m frankly too tired and beat up. I’m honestly just trying to learn how to stop worrying and love the Doomsday Machine (JKCF).

Yeah, i know the feeling.

Everyone should watch Dr. Strangelove at least once
