Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship 2015-2016

I would think that they would send out emails to the scholars, first. Which may be why it will take a couple weeks to do. I would, however, hope they would send out emails soon!

lol if you are able to wait "a couple of weeks " more to find out, I would say your have a very solid patience

Is there anything you guys regret about your application?

For example, I keep thinking about how much humor I included in my answer to the first prompt. I kinda wished I toned that one down. I remember feeling that the entirety of my application felt rather sad, I wanted to lighten it up; I might have over done it.

Reading what you wrote months later is pretty interesting.

The waiting is killing me, but as long as I get good news I don’t mind waiting. But If the news are not good, hell will break lose

@Jouuuu yes! I wish I would have included more prestigious universities in the schools I wanted to attend section. I also wish I would have elaborated more on some of my short answer questions.

the dedication and camaraderie you’ve all shown each other throughout this process speaks to your commitments. and i’m sure a little light heartedness is wecome.

Thank you @optimisticky. Someone spoke of hell breaking loose. Thats not going to happen.

@skaday i really hope you get it.

I don’t anticipate receiving this award but I am honored to be among you all, such resilient, hard-working, and grateful future leaders! Hopefully we will all hear soon and can make choices for our futures, but until then I hope we can throw ourselves into our studies! Thanks to past winners for your guidance and support on this thread!

@graceunworthy no no “all hell will break lose.” I think they meant that hell will lose, therefore we will win!

In all seriousness, we need to be a little more lax. Gotta enjoy ourselves as we wait. I’m 100% positive that, regardless of outcome, we are going to be looking back at this thread and laugh at some of the things we wrote while anxiously waiting - both hilarious and overly serious in tone.

@TuveeMD The G.I. Bill only lasts for 36 months, not nearly long enough to finish a bachelor’s when you have kids to raise and plan on going to grad school.

Hey guys ! I think that your anxiety is even making some of you to restrict other people feeling. When someone mentioned hell breaking loose, I’m sure he/she was talking about himself/herself, no about anybody else. Stop restricting, fixing, and judging how others feel. Everyone here is anxious, and For every single person here, it will be a hard moment if they find out there were no chosen as a finalist. If you trust something and that is keeping you sane, congratulations, you must have a lot of faith, but honestly, how people will react once they find out is no one’s concern.

Talking about regresrs at this point it is not healthy. I hope that everyone’s application truly reflect who you are. If that is your case, there is nothing to be afraid of.

You are all capable and worthy of success. The true injustice here is that something like the JKCF - which has such a small acceptance rate - is necessary to support that. Regardless of what happens, please don’t forget that you deserve to get where you want to go.

With so many semi-finalists on this board, along with many of us having multiple semifinalists at our school, I am sure we will know once scholars begin receiving notifications. From what we know, nobody has been awarded or denied the scholarship yet. Almost there! Be kind to ourselves.

@pearsonx I hate to be that guy (or maybe I don’t), but there’s a lot of hypocrisy in what you just wrote. You are basically telling us not to restrict others feelings while advising us not to talk about something. Maybe it was unintentional, but I do get your point.

Following that train of though, I should probably stop telling people to relax too. haha. .

Jouuuu look, you dare to call yourselves the greatest mind in the community colleges, you dare to say that you support each other, which is the biggest fallacy here, Nevertheless you find my comment fitting you well. I’m glad you did. I advise you no to do something, then you attack me, personally, what kind of person are you ? What is said what totally intended for people like you, you don’t have control over what other people feel, how they expresse or how they want to feel. Even less, you don’t have the right to make fun or misinterpreted what people say. I am starting to see what is the real value of some people here, and it petrifies me.

FYI for those of you still finalizing your decisions for admission this fall, let me tell you that JKCF’s chicago/midwest chapter throws the best group parties. actually the truth is, people get together to talk about math and the downsides to cat ownership. :frowning:

@graceunworthy Relax - don’t give into it. I think there’s a certain person that while we have all been building each other up, has taken it upon themselves to antagonize and argue (for weeks).

The truth is this all out of our control, regardless of what dates we all think this is going to happen or when or how and by whom. And I think we all know that but find it hard not to do it anyway - just as a way to cope with the anxiety. Thank you for speaking out! - just wanted to say that.

Let’s enjoy the rest of the time between now when we are “possibly” winners and when the news comes and some of us are sad. Leave out the negativity and let those people argue in person with their friends, and not hiding behind a screen where they can be incredibly mean, self righteous and judgmental. We are all here for support because this is a very very hard process that means so much for some of us that are just plain broke - although we can word it in the context of so many different scenarios.

We can all say how we feel and don’t feel and it’s okay!

I’m so stressed! And I’ll feel like all hell will break lose if I don’t get it - but only maybe for a week and then I’ll remember how strong I am and move forward

Good luck y’all ! Stay positive and happy ! Yieeeeee

Eye of the tiger eye of the tiger ! Rise to the challenge!

@Jouuuu and that was meant for you not @graceunworthy bwahaha - I’m holding onto my cat! But not too hard !!

You’re an intense person, @pearsonx. No one is here to attack you.

Anyways, I am also not here to break down what you wrote, point out your flaws, and indulge in a debate. You’re misinterpreting what I wrote and you’re generalizing me in ways I didn’t even allude to. But, that’s okay. Let’s agree to disagree and move on. Cool?

@RlyOwl Very much agreed! I thing we should move to make “all hell will break lose” into our class slogan/meme. Let’s not all throw away our cats just yet.

@optimisticky I should totally come to the Midwest so I can share with you all (off CC, clearly) pictures of my cat and sell you on the wonders of being owned by one.
