they’re not doing calls this week for incoming transfer scholars. beginning next week, i would start preparing for what you would do if you were called out in class. this is a really joyous time for all of us.
Thanks @optimisticky !! It is exciting to finally have some concrete information from a reliable source as you! Next week is the time to shine!
@optimisticky I just want to clarify!
Next week is the week we are supposed to hear? Also, what is the method of communication? Phone, Email, College staff?
@Auggie95 notifications will start going out the next two weeks. your school will be notified before you will in case they want to surprise you. rejections will be sent via email. keep in mind, the foundation could decide at the last minute to change things up, or the process can get delayed.
Did they tell you that the winners will be announced by phone calls?? like for sure it’s not different this year @optimisticky
I encourage everyone to read @optimisticky’s post 10x before overwhelming him/her w/ questions. All we got to do is keep waiting. I’m sure someone here will get informed next week!
basically what @Jouuuu said. we scholars don’t have access to the selection process. but word comes down to us sometimes. you will receive a phone call if you’re selected, unless they don’t have your contact information.
let me also say that the scholarship is so much more than money. i mean, money, yes. but community. and like, access to unique opportunities. and people and places that may have once overlooked you start to pay closer attention.
@optimisticky That sound amazing. In the most non-cheesy way possible, community is the most important thing I am looking for moving forward. More than anything, my ability to graduate from my community college came because I was able to create this really wonderful community of peers, advisers, and faculty that gave me all these opportunities and broke the fall when things went wrong - and just the little things, like “what do I even do in this situation with all these unknown social norms?” because I have no clue most of the time (the importance of that community was a prominent feature of my application). In applying to schools, I mainly applied to small LACs and explained in my Common App the fact that I was seeking a campus community to belong to. Obviously, the academic side is important, but that a) would not have been possible had I not had the people I have had and b) is not at the heart of what I/we need as people.
Ay. You’re making the rejection more difficult (I am also a bit emotional because I have had two schools high on my list reject me because my financial need was too high and another two shorted me, but regardless). More seriously, thank you so much for continuing to support all of us on this forum. Regardless of the outcome, it’s been really helpful to have you here encouraging and advising us along the way. I am really honored to have been able to make it far enough to have these conversations - it’s been a motivator - so I just really appreciate the opportunity. You all will do great.
(As I said, a bit emotional.)
So what you’re saying is my school will be notified Monday and they’ll be like “who’s that guy” and no one will tell me and then two weeks later I’ll get the email and be like “damn all my school acceptance deadlines have passed, guess I shouldn’t have waited to base my decision on a possibility.”
@ForestryGuy you can technically put down a deposit on more than one school. While yes that means you wont get a deposit back, you can say yes to the school you can attend without jck and then one yoh could accept if you get it. I looked into this myself because based on jkc where I can attend would be different. At least this way you won’t miss out in being able to enroll Many students end up doing this anyway because most public schools want an answer by May 1st, but private schools ususally provide transfer acceptances after that date.
I am nauseous. Can’t sleep. Is tomorrow really the day. Just the thought that my school may know way way before me, or that I might wake up to a rejection email, or yet another post saying that we won’t know for a few more weeks… I know I should be excited but… Ahh!.. Going to go out and find a cat now…
Meow listen here…
help control the pet population. Have your pet spayed or neutered.
There is no real evidence, but I have a feeling that someone should hear by tomorrow afternoon. What do you guys think? Maybe Wednesday? I feel like today is out of the question.
@Jouuuu I would agree with that. They’re going to tell schools first anyway. I just feel like my body literally cannot take it anymore and want it to be today. May the spirit of Mr.Cooke be with us all
but seriously, guys. It’s getting way too nerve-racking.
I’m incredibly impatient and want to call them today to see if they are releasing information this week. However, I have already bugged them once a few weeks back…
@sammyclaire23 just try calling. It’s not like they keep track of your number!
Not sure if this Will help anyone but, I logged into the site again looking for some clue about my status and found none. It had never occurred to me to actually re-read what I wrote, my resume and academics again. It actually calmed me down. I revised that thing a million times and tried my best. I really did. It I don’t get it - I guess I am just not what they were looking for.
After I submitted I haven’t read it over because I’m too much or a perfectionist and thought it could have been better. Well… I tried my best and I will achieve my goals regardless. It is out of my hands now. Good luck everyone! (For me this should be the week to hear back because I have spring break - I assume).
Have a nice day!
maybe you had technically issues going on in your computer @RlyOwl mine says the same thing like before (my status says complete)
We made it through another day of nothing. Stay strong!
