I still don’t understand why you all keep calling. Remember that game from when you were a kid? This is quite literally the telephone game, information is transformed from one source to the next. Plus contacting them will probably only stress you out more, not to mention all of us.
Just relax and go plant a tree or something, tomorrow is earth day after all.
@mitfit I was also told that all the finalists will be notified through email, but the lady said that the finalists will get the emails within this week. And we have only one working day left this week.
it is very very possible they could call tomorrow. The only consistent information I have seen is from people saying they have spoken with former recipients who have said that recipients will be informed between Friday and Sunday. I have personally heard from two in person, and then one more on here. So don’t give up hope on tomorrow! Maybe other former recipients can chime in and confirm this, but three different awardees… That’s pretty solid
I am a current scholar. I have a few things to say. Hopefully, this will clear up some confusion.
First of all, congratulations to making it this far. You all should be proud of your accomplishments. I hope to meet some of you during our scholar’s weekend and other scholar meetups.
From the information that I have, the foundation is running behind a few weeks for this year’s UT scholar selection. But from what I understand, the scholar selection is over and the list of new scholars have been finalized. They seem to working behind the scenes to get everything ready to announce the results (Trust me - There is a lot involved in on boarding new scholars). From what I have been told, the earliest the results will go out is next Friday. But I have also been told that most people are going to find out the week after next which is first week of May.
Your school will be notified before you are and the school officials will surprise you (if they choose) with the announcement. Some current scholars will also be involved in this year’s surprises. I am not really sure about whether you will receive an email or phone call from the foundation after your school surprises you. People who are rejected will receive an email. But not sure when that email will come through. I don’t have any information on the number of new UT scholars or who they are. I am just as curious to find out who they are like everyone on this forum.
I requested this information from the foundation because someone from my community college has been bugging me about when the results are coming out.
My advice is just to relax. Don’t freak out. Focus on your finals and projects. I was very severely depressed during the lead up to my announcement. Don’t be like me. Keep your hopes up and successfully complete your last semester in community college.
Once again, congratulations on making it this far!
Keep in mind that your school may know for days or up to a week before you do. JKCF is like the weather…you can speculate based on historical patterns or whichever way the wind is blowing at any given moment, but ultimately it is unpredictable and will do whatever it likes. Please don’t keep calling and harassing the poor office staff. It’s not helping the process. Just put your head down, keep working, and let this whole thing play itself out.
Until the results come, make like Elsa from Frozen and just LET IT GO.
Hello my fellow JKCF semifinalists, I am also another potential just chiming in on the discussions. Man, I’ve literally read through this entire year’s forum and last year’s forums. All I can say is I’m so thankful to make it this far. Allegedly there are roughly 150 semifinalists. Some believe that # to be higher. I just like to keep in perspective that regardless of the #, nearly 2,000 ppl received a rejection “letter” in phase 1, and yet, we are all still here. All of you seem like great ppl which makes me wonder how deserving of this scholarship I really am. Good luck everyone and excuse any typos, I’m posting on my phone.
@LostUber On some level, that’s the part that still has not registered, as odd as that seems - that others received rejection letters while I was advanced. While I do think my narrative is likely a good “fit”, that still seems woefully insufficient to explain why I was selected to be part of such a small pool of semi-finalist (regardless as to if that number is 400 or 150). I really, really do not get it, so I am incredibly appreciative and humbled to still be here; it means so much to me.
@optimisticky Guess I’ll just have to find you and your offices on the dark side of the moon and liberate this thread with the free energy (and results) you’ve been hiding on Mars. You can’t fool me you NWO globalist. Everyone knows you’re being funded by the puppet masters.
so as with all updates, we will not know if it is true until we know
My advisor spoke with a rep today. After the horrible mix up on my college campus he wanted some answers.
He was told that all semi-finalists will be contacted next week starting monday and ending friday. Colleges will not be notified first this year. The reason stated was that they are already so behind and understand most colleges want an admissions response by May 1st.
Again… we have heard the foundation weave many tales, I am simply sharing what my advisor was told today.
I just got accepted to UCLA, UC Davis and UC Irvine. I was also accepted to UCSD a month ago. At least I heard some good news from the universities this week. I can’t wait till next week
@muffinpoptarte I heard the same thing when I called this morning. When I asked about discrepancy in information, she told me “I don’t why that is happening, but I am the one that writes the emails.” I felt a bit bad.
@optimisticky If you appoint me to share your position, I’ll bring my cat with me.
hi im currently about to enter my final year of community college this coming school year
do you guys have any advice on what JKCF looks for? what would be considered competitive, what kind of student do they want? do we have a chance if we have little to no community service? how difficult are the essay questions, how much preparation do i need to write them? just any advice, please pile it on! does it help if you’re a minority and female studying a STEM degree?
