Just a note, but I think my application was solid besides my family and I’s income. Overall, we totaled to around 50k with an EFC of 11k. I think that’s why I’m ultimately going to not be selected. Did anyone get an email with similar stats? (Assuming my grades and story are up to par).

Also, I’m wondering if anyone near the east coast got the email. I noticed from the forum way way earlier that some people got the email for financial forms days before others, but might be from west coast and then east coast. Or…maybe someone from the college scholarship posted on here by accident about what they were being asked for.

Yes, if anyone out there who is part or not part of the forum please let us know if you received today UPDATE EMAIL asking for an update on your transcript and schools that have accepted you. But did not receive the e-mail in mid march asking for additional financial information.

Does this mean that if I already accepted a school that I am disqualified, because if it does then that’s the biggest load of … ever. I don’t understand how I’m expected to wait on a long shot while watching my classes fill up and deadlines go by so that I may receive a scholarship that I couldn’t use anyways because I would be too late to get into the school/classes I need.
On a lighter note I got to dissect rat testicles today. That’s always fun.

So it seems you either got both emails or no emails hmm ok. I just wonder why they didn’t go straight ahead and send more of us rejection emails. I think last year they did the same thing and people got mad. Just let us know,. I hope it’s not for the sake of letting winners and losers know at the same time. It’s just a long time to leave people hanging, you know? Oh well. Who knows, last year I hear some people who didn’t get emails got the scholarship if you remember from early on in the thread. That’s my last thread of hope.

Guys… I really don’t think they are weeding us out. I mean, some of us have stories that transcend our grades and family income. I strongly believe we are all still in this and many of you will likely receive an e-mail tomorrow

I don’t know how spiritual you guys are but reading last year’s thread it taught me something: Those of us who don’t “win” should never fret, because the creator has a plan for each and every one of us. Those who were not selected typically found out better news from other aspects of their lives.For all we know, getting the e-mail could mean they have picked 50 people and are trying to decide the last 35-40.
Regardless, trust your path and your struggle. We all have different “stops” on this ride called life. Maybe there is better on the way for some of us, but we’d never know if we did not continue to follow our hearts. Each of us has a purpose.None of us are here by chance, and none of us made it this far without having nerves of steel!!
Be patient, be calm, nothing is in stone yet! I strongly believe we are all going to make it where we are trying to go no matter what happens next! Life is not complete chaos/chance, there is a design to all of this, and it is as natural as the law of gravity itself.
Also, because people are asking: I did receive both the financial form and this request, as did another semi-finalist at my school (one student who received the financial form did not receive this one; waiting to hear back from others).

Try not to read into any of this. It might mean something or it might not. We have had winners who did not receive the financial form, according to one of my coordinators.
I am concerned my transcript from last semester will likely disqualify me, but that’s ok. Receiving the scholarship would change my life, but I am determined to move forward either way. I am so honored and happy to have made it this far.
That being said, I have not locked down a school. All colleges I have acceptances at (3) have shorted me with financial aid (even with loans and work study included. Though I would never take them out, I also don’t qualify for private loans). Two have rejected me because of my high financial need. I am looking into Americorps programs for a potential gap year. We’ll see.

With that being said, playing Sherlock trying to figure this out is fun. Is it safe to say that everyone that didn’t get an email the first time arund didn’t get the second today?

@optimisticky I went ahead and sent an email asking for clarification anyways. Something about the wording bothers me, it should be more specific.
