Hi everyone. I came across this Forum in the last week of April. I wish I had known it long ago. I find it very interesting and helpful. It’s very kind that the applicants share ideas and the past award recipients share what they learned. And special thanks to the Forum starter.
I’m applying from Texas and a semifinalist as well. I am as anxious as others and especially since I have not received any email after the notification on March 8th. I never called or emailed them because I thought they already notified the recipients in April. It’s such a relief now when I know that I am not alone in this opaque-marathon.
To all semifinalists and all applicants alike, whether you are a semifinalist or a rejected applicant or eventually become a JKC UT scholar, I believe you will achieve success in your life. Because you all are smart, hardworking and have helped others in your life. If I win the award by a slim chance, I will remember in my prayer the rejected applicants who are no less worthy than me.
Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster.
I just want to say that reading this forum and knowing that other people have been going the same thing has been really helpful as we wait on JKCF.
My situation isn’t JKCF or bust, I’m going to my future school (a public university) no matter what, but the waiting to find out has been slowing driving me mad. My friends and family know the situation and will occasionally tentatively ask if I’ve hear anything and all I can do is mournfully reply no. I really feel for you guys who need the scholarship to go to your top choice schools and I hope you do get the aid you need and that we all hear within the next few days. It is getting pretty ridiculous. Maybe we can all just think of it as there being too many really good applicants this year?
Welcome @ElizaHam you chose a good time to jump in the conversation. I wish more semifinalists were on here so we could get a better representation of everything.
hi everybody I decided to jump in as well since someone was asking to see if anyone was from Texas. I am from Houston, Texas. I kinda lose hope since I didn’t receive any other emails from the foundation except the semifinalist one… It was really great to read everyone’s story.
Well, my brother lives in Texas but I’m from Florida. The only other connection I have to Texas is I had a 4 hour layover there while flying from California. Its was pretty cool lol
Honestly, I just really hope someone hears back today. I have so much going on that just hit, and I cannot expend more energy on this process. I need it to end.
rep today said 1-2weeks, said all notifications will be out by the May 23. Know reps are not the most reliable source, but her response was without hesitation-- believe we can definitely expect answer by that date
