@midia Have your advisers been notified?
@aritransfer16 I don’t have an “advisor” per se. I know the on campus contact for JKC is one of the Deans but no one has ever really spoken to her about the scholarship so I’m not sure. Usually, students are surprised at graduation with the announcement but I graduated about 3 weeks ago.
I am a recipient, as is the other double emailed semifinalist at my school. I am speechless.
Thank you all so much for keeping me afloat and seeing value in me. I know we don’t know each other in person, but you all sincerely mean so much to me.
@optimisticky Guess we will be meeting after all!
I knew they couldn’t turn down a zebra, ari!
A million congratulations to you. I am looking forward to meeting you in person.
has anyone been photographed making hideous cry-faces yet? please share. the boogery the better. i am a sicko. and radiant with joy for my fellow award recipients, and my heart leans in to embrace those who will not be moving forward. i have had a lot of sympathetic nerves and weird emotions (not weird like that) reading this forum, and watching it end in confetti and wailing is a treat, a real treat. that feeling that comes afterwards, that surging elation? bottle it up. preserve it.
I’m dying here. They announced a few surprise scholarships at my graduation last night and I was so nervous after hearing that others had been announced this way, but nothing. Oh well I’m in the middle of the woods now with a very bad signal, no Wi-Fi, and limited data so I probably won’t be checking in again until I hear for sure one way or another.
Congrats to everyone who has been announced. I know you all deserve it and will put it to good use. I will hopefully get to meet you all but if not then live long and prosper. \m/ <(close enough)
Congratulations to everyone who is finding out! You’re all amazing, and so deserving!
Is it safe to say that the common string between all recipients is the double email?
@sammyclaire23 Sadly, yes, that seems to be the case.
My advisor said he was told only 75 people were awarded (I’m wondering if anyone can confirm–why would they choose less scholars than the 85 they initially said?), and 11 schools had more than 1 recipient.
He also said JKCF said they had until the 20th to notify winners, so don’t lose hope yet!
@AlwysHope It is stated “approximately 85 deserving students selected annually” - since it was an approximate amount, they can go over or under. They had only selected 73 recipients in 2013, and they had 85 for the past two years. It is still interesting that there are only 75 this year even though was even a larger application pool, but it isn’t likely that we will find out why.
@BlackForest16, thanks for reading the fine print for me. I have a horrible habit of skimming important documents.
@AlwysHope Both my advisor and another school said that this year there are only 75 Scholars. Good luck to everyone next week!!
@AlwysHope @Matsilinen My adviser also mentioned that there are 75 scholars this year and they have until May 20 to inform the scholars. So best of luck to all.
Came back to see if we had anymore winners! Congrats you guys!
So far, If I’m not mistaken, I am one of the only scholars to receive both notifications and not be selected?
All of you recieved both e-mails correct? @sat4498 @AlwysHope @Matsilinen
Are they still notifying people you think? Or do you believe all winners were already informed? I did some major sulking over the weekend. … at this point, anything new would be an unexpected suprise.
@LostUber I’m in the same situation; I received both emails but not notification. As it turns out, schools/advisors have known as early as May 11th. At least from what I’ve gathered, schools have until May 20th to notify or surprise students.
Two more winners from a local school near me! They had six finalists, two were ultimately chosen, although they are waiting until tomorrow to make the announcement. Both received the additional emails for school/financials.
@nekozuki Did you mean to say six semifinalist? And did any of the other semifinalists there receive both emails, but weren’t selected?
@midia I really hope you get it!!
Has any finalist detected a change in their dashboard info? Are all notifications out? The 20th is a long road away for those who most likely aren’t getting it…
So far it seems like the double emails are a thing. I however, hope that it is really true that some of the people who did not receive them still go the scholarship. I hope theres really a good explanation for keeping the rest of us waiting (and telling everyone over the phone that the rest of the applications were also still being considered). I really do! (like seriously). I didn’t get either email and I am 1% hopeful - which sucks a whole lot. But either way, congrats to those who got it! Such a big deal! :-h ^:)^
@RlyOwl I’m feeling the same way. I didn’t receive the two additional emails, and I have lost all hope. 1% would be the accurate amount of reassurance I have. Lol. Here’s to hoping!
