I was also surprised at graduation with the news that I won!
My advisor also let me know that the foundation selected 75 scholars this year, and all of the finalists received the latest email.

I also received both… But I will have to wait until Monday, as my advisor is out of town.

I didn’t receive the additional emails, so I guess I’m out; but congratulations to everyone who does receive this scholarship. I know that you all deserve this and that you’ll ulitilize this opportunity to its fullest. Reading of all of your stories makes me feel confident in the future of the world of its being lead by people who strive so hard and care so deeply. And, I’ll be right there with; just not as a Cooke Scholar.

Some honors/Ptk/JKCF reps at some schools haven’t heard anything from the foundation yet, so it looks like some of you fine folks will have to sit tight a little longer. Stay strong!
Just to stir the pot a little more… Has anyone logged into their dashboards to see if their application status has changed from “complete” to “scholar”’ like some noticed with the College Scholarship?

@aritransfer16, many of your posts have made me cheer for you from the sidelines. I’m hoping you make it and we get to meet. It sounds like we’ve experienced a lot of the same barriers in life.
@ElizaHam We are on the same boat . At least we know now what we are up to. For me, I have to go to Plan B. That is to skip college for awhile and save some money.
@All the winners. Big big congratulation!!! You deserve it and I know you will make the best out of it for you and for others. Please remember us sometimes.
@Fellow Rejected Applicants . Wish you guys all the best with your life without being a jkc ut scholar. I believe all of us will achieve our dreams ultimately but in a different way than the winners.

My PTK advisor finally admitted she received an e-mail Fri regarding a winner @ our school but it was not me…
Her logic was that last year, our school had two winners and their e-mails were sent out separately. She hoped that she could wait until Monday to receive a reply to one of her e-mails that asked how many winners our school had this year. Since the forum kind of gave It away, she was forced to tell the truth… I was most likely not selected.
There is a small chance it could happen like last year (getting a 2nd e-mail) but I highly doubt this will be the case.
I am happy for the winners! Don’t forget about the rest of us on your journeys! Make this world a better place, in your own way. This is LostUber. Signing off…

I didn’t receive either of the followup emails soooo out? I don’t know. It will just be nice to know for sure that I lost.

@nekozuki Do all advisors get an email, or could that just be the advisors who had no winners from their school?
I’m still going to hold out a little hope even though I didn’t get either email, financial or transcripts. The reason being is that several people told me it might make a difference that I got into Yale, and I didn’t tell JKC that until Wednesday. I didn’t have Yale listed as one of my top three schools.
In any case though, Yale meets all financial need, and that’ll just mean I have to work to make the money up that’s left, which isn’t much. I’m incredibly incredibly lucky, and I do want the scholarship to go to those who need it the most. I would just think it’d be great to be a part of the Cooke community too, so I’m still hoping!

@anythinghere I’m in the exact same boat. I think I can figure out what’s left for me to go to school, I just think it would be amazing to be a part of the scholars community.
My school doesn’t have a JKC advisor and my graduation was in the 6th, so I feel kind of doubtful about whether the notification would go to my school; but since I didn’t get the other emails it’s probably a moot point to worry about.
@ElizaHam I kind of wouldn’t be surprised if there were some people that they said yes to right off the bat, and they wouldn’t have gotten either follow up email. I’m not sold that there aren’t some people who will still win even if they didn’t get the emails. I’m still rooting for you! No giving up until the rejection email lol.
The two schools whose reps confirmed no contact have a long, rich history with JKCF and multiple finalists (both schools have multiple winners every year), so it seemed a little odd to me that neither of them heard anything. But who can say? The Foundation’s process will always be shrouded in mystery. I’m just trying to scooby-doo my way into finding out as much as I can and passing the info along to you guys.
@LostUber Thank you for the information. My coordinator has been silent as a stone and none of us can get any information out of her. I am super suspicious of the idea that she received an email letting her know she would be notified today, so I am assuming that I am out, as well, and will keep my fingers crossed for our other doubly emailed semifinalist (all of them, really). I wish she would respond to me with confirmation so that I can move on, but I have annoyed her a bit too much and I imagine she is trying to find a way to deliver bad news.
I’ll let you all know once I have confirmation, but for now just know that I am so thankful for all your support and encouragement throughout this process, and congratulations to our winners. You will all do fantastic things.
Well, now I’m just lost. I know two students from my school received the last email but no one has been notified yet. Typically, there are multiple winner from my school but from different campuses (as we have many).

To the rest of us, we just have to hang tight and see what happens!
