I wrote about the Russian Space race regarding Sputnik and related it to my major of mathematics education (by saying we are in a similar race, an “education race” with China, India, etc in mathematics test scores). Loved writing that one a lot!

Still haven’t heard anything yet. I called them yesterday and they said nothing was released. Though now, it appears the graduate scholars were notified. Keep in mind that the graduate scholars are ONLY picked from those who received a previous undergraduate award (so those were easier to pick from, I’d imagine).

Even though it may be a little controversial, I wrote about the Milgram Experiments on obedience to authority and how this research can offer insight into the causes of genocide. The Oscar Wilde quote response was difficult for me because I was trying not to repeat everything I had said in my biography…

i was just searching the internet to see when the awards were going to be sent out and stumbled across this thread… i do feel a little relieved that others are still waiting, though i can’t stop thinking about what i’ve been wondering since i submitted the application! the website says late april, and it is late april! oh the anticipation!! good luck to everyone who has posted on here, and i must say though after reading some of your threads, regardless of getting this scholarship - you’re heading in a wonderful direction!

im a little late on the fun, but i’m currently enrolled at tidewater comm. college in VA hoping this comes through as well as my application to Johns Hopkins as a major in Neuroscience. My other top pick is Georgetown University (wont hear from those schools til June), and was just accepted to University of Richmond - though I’m waiting, of course, to hear from my top schools before I accept! I’ve doubled up on the nervous excitement of anticipation i suppose…

again, good luck everyone, i suppose we’ll hear something very soon!

I saw someone above posted that the foundation said the results will come out around April 28th…I don’t see anything in my mail box yet.
I’m scared…very…very…scared…especially after reading all your crazy-impressive replies!
Yet, I take it as an honor that I was able to compete with great students like you, and best of luck to all of us, as it seems to me that all of you are very deserving of this prestigious award!

I’m from Souther california, recently accepted from UCI, UCSD, UCLA, now waiting for Berkeley on the 29th…my first choice school.

I am already trembling…

I plead all of you that if any of you receive any letter from Jack Kent Cooke, please post it!

They said they have “until the end of the week to notify recipients.” So I do not think anything went out yet. My choice of school will obviously depend on my status of this award. Paid my acceptance fees as placeholders. Yeah, these results cold potentially be my future on the line, so this waiting is PAINFUL!!

^^^ I know what you mean. I get paid tonight and I was hoping to know about JKC so I could pay my deposit for Penn State, but if I do not get it, I cannot afford Penn State or any of the others, and I may have to take a year off and re-apply when I can get in-state tuition. I feel like my future is on the line too. Either way though, we have to move because my daughter cannot stay in the high altitude here.

Saturday?! Oh, goodness… they’re waiting until the VERY end. The suspense is killing me!!! If one of you receives notification, please let us know!!!

@harmontm- I hear you. The only reason I am in post secondary education in the first place is because of a program called NJ STARS (for those who don’t know, it’s a program here in NJ that gives full tuition to community college students in NJ who graduate in the top 15% of their class). But now, I have decided to expand my list of choices to out of state schools, and my #1 school (Ohio State University) is one of those schools. Even though I have worked full time and saved a lot of money in the process, it will only be a fraction of my costs for even a SINGLE YEAR.

Point being, I’ve accelerated through my first two years of school because of that scholarship, and I really want to keep the same pace until I potentially receive my master’s degree or beyond. I’d hate to suddenly have to stop because I cannot afford it (story of post secondary education in the U.S., it seems). Though, I am trying to figure out ways to establish residency in another state between now and September and find a loophole around the typical “one year rule” to get out of out-of-state surcharges.

In any case, ignore my rant. Everyone here is obviously scholarship material, and I hope we all receive good news before the month is up. But ultimately, it all rides on the foundation at this point!!

Statistically, at least one of us we’ll get it–although I’m sure several of us will. The point being, JKC most certainly hasn’t notified the recipients yet because one of us would have posted. So, if and when someone is awarded, please post it here. If–damn it-when Kristl and I are awarded, I’ll be sure to let everyone know–please do the same.

I cannot wait… I just want to know… At this point, I just want the suspense to end… I will be posting here as soon as I hear any news (hopefully good news!!)
