Discussion for this scholarship! I'm Asian, I hope that i have a chance of winning despite that the majority of the recipients are AA. Lol.
I noticed they have made some changes to the application process this year as opposed to the other years. So I have a question. I've been lurking in threads of previous Jackie Robinson Scholarships and most are talking about mailing in stuff before a certain date such as the application itself and a high school transcript. I am worried. I know for sure that they are not accepting mail, email, and fax of recommendation letters and the application this year. But I've read in threads that they had to mail in their transcripts. Does it apply to this year as well? Enlighten me please. The deadline is on February 15 and it's approaching fast!

From the website it says:

Verification
Applicants invited to interview with one of the regional committees will be required to bring copies of the documents listed below to the interview.
Official high school transcript
Proof of U.S. citizenship
Student Aid Report

So you’ll need those forms later if they select you. I hope you the best for this scholarship!

How do I upload my recommendation?

@Carotid you have to send a request to your recommender here schoolrecs.com;

and they have to fill it out online.

Don’t forget to make sure you send in your ACT/SAT score electronically which has a fee of like $8-$12 probably.

Just submitted the application, finger crossed. And good luck to everyone else who submitted the app! May the odds the ever in our favor…lol

Best to you as well, EastAfrican!

Submitted earlier today.

Hopefully letting them know that I was admitted to Claremont McKenna yesterday helps.

That’s funny, carotid, I was accepted into Pomona College ED2 like three days ago. Yay, fellow Claremontite!

I submitted my app 40 minutes after the deadline. I know about the 5:00 pm deadlines. Do you guys know if it will greatly affect my consideration? How will they know if I submitted late?

I hope I can get this scholarship. Haven’t heard back from any of the 20 I’ve already applied to. I feel like I could’ve tried a bit harder on two of this app’s essays, but we’ll see what happens.

Is anyone else a semi-finalist for this scholarship? Or can any previous winners say something about the interview?

@CPTamerica96

Have you already been notified?

DD was notified last Thursday. Her interview is in May.

I’m going to assume that I didn’t get this one lol. Kinda expected it. Oh well!

They have until April 30th to notify you.

Did you get an email or a phone call?

I was notified last Tuesday. I’m a future out-of-state UCLA student. On our phone call, I was told that I was going to be flown in to UCLA for my interview.

She received an email.

Okay, so it looks like they might still be sending notifications.

Did everybody who got semi finalist receive this? Does this mean I might get an interview? I’m from Texas.

Please be advised that all qualified applications that met minimal eligibility requirements are being reviewed by the Regional Scholar Advisory Committees. Your application did qualify for further consideration. All applicants will be notified of their application status by the end of May 2014.
