@hallowdreams I’m relating to you on a spiritual level right now LOL. Like in my mind, I’ve already been rejected. And that’s bugging me too: the disorganization JRF has when it comes to releasing the final results. May sound rude, but its the truth!
@FutureSurgeon97 Perhaps it’s the judging process they undergo that causes them to have to release decisions this way? I won’t pass any judgement. Keep me posted!
I think you both should lose hope yet. You may still be in consideration because if you were flat out rejected they would’ve told you. The reason it may be coming out in waves is because they may still be deciding . There were 140 people interviewed and at least 40 people and at most 70 have recorded it in past years. Only 3 people have heard back on this thread so don’t give up yet.
And regardless of all that you’re measure of success now and in the future is not defined by this scholarship.
*your
@bbruinbound97 I’d feel a little more sure of myself if I knew that rejections were coming out as well but I don’t think they have. Regardless, thanks for the motivation.
If one reviews the information from the JRF scholarship on College Confidential for the last several years, it is apparent that the notification dates have been late and varied. For example in 2013, some CC users reported notification on June 19 while others didn’t report finding out until June 30th. In 2014 the reported date was June 23rd. In 2015, some received notification on June 15th and others on June 18th. For all of these years, I’m simply reporting those who indicated that they DID receive the scholarship. On one hand, this makes sense, the regions varied greatly in the timing of the in-person interviews.
My suggestion, keep the faith. Remain hopefully positive, yet recognize that there are no guarantees. Good luck everyone!
Wow! Just found out that I received the scholarship!!
This is completely crazy tbh. On April 30th, I got the generic "“Please be advised that all qualified applications that met minimal eligibility requirements are being reviewed by the Regional Scholar Advisory Committees. Your application did qualify for further consideration. All applicants will be notified of their application status by the end of May 2015” email. I pretty much gave up hope after receiving it. Two weeks latter, I got a rejection. I stopped following up with any information regarding the scholarship. Another week goes by and I get a random and mysterious email from JRF asking about the college I’ll be attending. I replied and JRF basically wished me luck in all my future endeavors. I thought that it was strange that the foundation would ask about anything concerning my life after getting flat out rejected. Yesterday, I got an email stating that they would like my phone number. I gave it to them and today I was informed that I was a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Award recipient!
No interview, nothing except for the initial application. She (the caller) said that they received extra funds this year, enabling them to award more applicants. I’m still shocked since some people in this thread (who did interviews) are still anxiously waiting.
Good luck to everyone and congrats to those who received it!!
@jjjj16 That’s crazy! Congratulations and all the best to you.
@hallowdreams Thank you very much!!
So I called this morning and they said all scholars have not been notified yet, which probably isn’t the truth.
Congrats to all who have received and to those who didn’t we’re still class of 2015 therefore we should celebrate our accomplishments.
Out of curiosity where is everyone headed next year ? If you couldn’t already tell from my user name I’m headed to UCLA
@Tee1234 Kudos to you for calling it like it is lol =D>. Whatever though. JRF is missing out.
@bbruinbound97 I’ll be heading to Duke University in the fall. Go blue devils!!
@bbruinbound97 I’m heading to Boston University. Go terriers!
Almost two weeks from the date we were supposed to find out. No offense to those accepted, I’m very happy for you and I hope you benefit very much from the foundation, but I see JRF scholarship services as one big mess.
If this helps…I just received an email saying that they are finishing up the reviewing process and we should hear sometime shortly so do not lose hope yet! I’m in the Mid-Atlantic region btw.
Thanks @WMBound2019! But that’s exactly what I mean… Why didn’t all of us receive that email? Although I do admit I have no idea what happens behind their closed doors, it just makes me feel like this is all just so disorganized, and its frustrating.
@FutureSurgeon97 This is a public forum and I would implore you to be mindful of your words, haha. Besides, we all know that if any of us still waiting are selected (for whatever reason) we’d forgive them in a heartbeat. If you feel that strongly why don’t you shoot them an email with some constructive feedback after it’s all said and done?
@WMBound2019 Thanks for letting us know. I haven’t received an email like that but I’m not too bothered. If I remember correctly I received the whole “please be patient” email a day after someone on here reported first receiving it… or I could be confusing dates. Either way, I’ll call after the 1st if I don’t get anything.
@hallowdreams Just expressing my honest opinion (in a way that doesn’t go against CC rules). But if you don’t wanna hear it, I’ll respect that. Thanks for the suggestion. That being said, next time I check back, it’ll be about my acceptance or rejection.
@FutureSurgeon97 You misunderstand me. You’ve the right to say whatever you’d like I was just trying to caution you against being too vocal without having yet received your results. Call it paronia but I just think it’s a good policy, that’s all. My response was out of concern Best to you.
@hallowdreams Well I appreciate it. Thanks.
