Jacobs University Bremen...future in Law School?

Hey CC,

I've been accepted to Jacobs with a full scholarship and my parents want me to go despite the fact that I got into McGill and Berkeley. I'll be fine with going as long as I'm able to go to A US law School following my undergraduate degree at Jacobs. Does anyone know if this is possible and what any complecations might be?

Any help at all…please

Why don’t you contact the appropriate office at Jacobs and ask them how many of their students went to law school in the US this last year, and which law schools they got into/ended up attending?

For what it’s worth, I was very surprised when I met two students from Jacobs at the MIT open house for admitted students to the Math PhD program. Jacobs does have an excellent reputation in some areas.

@b@r!um: Do you know whether a 3 year bachelor’s degree from Jacobs is recognized by american universities that are mostly accustomed to a 4 year degree?

Most European Bachelor’s degrees are 3-year programs, and most American universities accept them. However, there are exceptions. Some American universities do insist on that 4th year and suggest that European students get a Master’s degree first. That’s for admission to PhD programs, anyway. Not sure if it’s the same deal for professional schools.

I don’t think you’ll encounter problems trying to get into Law school from Jacobs,it has an excellent rep with grad schools. On their website they do say that their 3yr bachelors is equivalent to the US 4 year degree.

^ They do say it is equivalent to a 4 year degree and it most probably is but do american colleges know or understand that fact?
