Applying as a Finance major. Being Asian and from NoVa hurts me, my GPA hurts me as well, but I have a high SAT and strong course schedule.
What are my chances?

what is Unweighted GPA?

Around 3.2 Unweighted

It is really tough to chance someone give admissions reviews so much more than the basic stats, but on stats alone I would say better than 50/50 given the SAT score, but the UW GPA does hinder that some. Make sure you have some true safeties just in case. Best of luck.

Being in state, as well as your SAT score will certainly help. The only thing a bit low is your unweighted GPA, but I think you have a strong chance of admission. Good luck!

Honestly, with 17 AP’s/Honors classes and a 1460 on your SAT, they would be crazy to be hung up on your unweighted GPA. That rigor should count for something. I have no idea why being Asian or being from NoVA would hurt you.

Wow, those are impressive stats to me, I would think you are a lock to get in. I didn’t realize JMU is that challenging to get into. Would my out of state son who has a 3.0 UW GPA, zero AP courses and 1320 SAT have a chance?
