I just noticed Jamzmom's post count is up to 912. I'm starting a pool. I think she'll break the big 1000 on February 24th. Anyone else in? We'll have to come up with some kind of cyber-prize for the winner.

And Jamzmom, no fair trying to influence the count.

Well, I suppose we could debate whether USMMA is a "real" service academy [it is not after all in the department of defense] or is it more akin to the uniformed services academy that seeks to produce doctors.

The idea is to JM spun up not the rest of us who's offspring attend the ONLY federal academy who's students have served in harms way, and has lost students to enemy fire, and is authorized to carry a Battle Standard, and currently has over 90 Midshipmen seerving as part of Operation Iraqi Freedomand Operation Enduring Freedom.

I was thinking more along the lines that you really can't get any good barbeque in South Carolina

I dunno, shes always all over my posts offering support and encouragement. Im sure her post counts will sky rocket once appointments start going out and she needs to congradulate (or console as in my case) those who get/dont get appointments.

I know she deserves a cyber prize regardless. Unfortunatly, cyber hugs only go so far.

"uniformed services academy that seeks to produce doctors."

USUHS merely produces the finest physicians this country has to offer :) I must say they have great mottos "Learning to Care for those in Harm's Way" and "Good Medicine in Bad Places"

Simma down, simma down. . . before anybody gets too spun up. I think USMMA is clearly a service academy.
I have an acquaintance that is a heck of a maritime lawyer that went to the Academy.
Keep the peace!

KP: What is your classification? I think you answered this before, but you are in medical school? Intern? Part of a military classification? Reserves but going to medical school?
I could PM you I suppose, but what the heck.

[Don't want to get too personal, lest you find such personal questions offensive such as UCLA.]

I'm a medical student. I imagine you can figure out which school from my post a few posts above :) Spent two years in the reserves, got promoted, and was promptly demoted upon entrance to medical school. Have now been on active duty for three years. Coming up on my sixth year as an ensign, I think it's a record. Always makes for a good laugh for my classmates who are all O3's now.

OK, Pseudo-scientifically.....JM posts an average of 3.29 times per day (her profile says so!). That gets her the required 88 additional posts in 26 days..... I am betting on Feb. 26th.

Clink-clink, virtual merlots to the always-positive, inspiring, cheerful, funny, fabulous JM!

Ya'll waitin' on me? Hmmmm. Trying to get me in a tizzy I see. And I feel sure ya'll have been in the sauce again & its just now happy hour.I've got some catchin' up to do! Ya'll are silly today. BBQ in SC is yellow LFWBDad. Think about it. I can't argue that point. LOL I am beginning to question the smarts of this little group I hang with. Therefore, before I get to the big 1000 & have a profound speech all prepared to post, I insist ya'll take this little quiz to see if you have what it takes to comprehend it. So, as I see you have a bunch of time on your hands today, get busy and report your scores back to me and NO cheating! Idle hands are the devil's workshop so chop chop! I'll be waiting!

Following up LFWB, Jamzmom - so SC BBQ is vinegar-based? Like eastern NC BBQ (or is it the other way around?) with or without beans? I always like the foodie discussions....with additional hot sauce, cole slaw on cheap hamburger buns? And cold beer, of course. Or sweet tea? (I got to gitt'er going to make it for Valentine's Day!) ;)

"Readiness Through Wellness" was used at some point in our Navy Medicine days - not sure if it was Navy-wide or just one command. Civilian Medicine sure is a different ball game! Tests & treatment given at military facilities because it's warranted, not just for the $$ or to cover your tail! (I could go on here, but suffice it to say that I expect the USNA kids - and all the academies - to be very well cared for indeed!) Hope that gives all you parents out there some comfort.

BZ kp! You made a great choice w/ Navy Medicine (I think I've said that before). Finest Docs anywhere!
