Dean J help, called and was told that uva will not consider the jan 26 2008 scores unless you have never taken the sat.

I guess we read it wrong cause we thought that the website said you told the jan scores. we are very disappointed because with the much better scores and the national merit we were so sure that it would help our child.
We were thrilled because all of the schools that he got into already are even taking them for honors. We are just so sad about this.

The admission time table on the website and the application say that December is the last date for testing to be taken. The problem with the late January test date is that results aren't given to the schools until late February...almost two months after the application deadline.

We don't hang our admission decisions on SAT scores alone. The transcript, which shows four years of work, is much more informative when trying to gauge a student's preparation for college level work.

I appreciate your information and it really makes me feel better. Our s is a very smart kid but his test scores the first time around did not show it. He tends to over think the test. His second scores were more impressive and even though he has been accepted as some very good schools, his counselor and I both thought UVA would be a good fit for him. I grew up in VA and have always loved the school. Hopefully, the rest of the package will be enough.

I think he did not feel as pressured on the Jan test cause he had already been accepted at some schools and so it made the test just another test instead of the big test, if that makes sense.
