January 2009 SAT Experimental Sections

Jeremy, though my real name is JinYang. 2270~ great. one month earlier I was thinking 2200 for Jan but now....maybe 2100 is lucky enough. sigh~

So you are aiming the ivys? probably? Which college is your favorite?

Was the math experimental (the one with the pentagon-in-circle) also the one with the 1,a,b,5 (something like that) number sequence?

I guessed between 5^21 and -5^21. Forget which I ended up choosing; I switched my answer a couple times.

it was 5^21

i don't remember having a pentagon in a circle though...

I remember the pentagon circle one. I think that one may be it.

It was one of the sections with the excess grid ins, because I remember thinking "I thought there was only 10 grid ins".

Does experimental section have any value in our scores? Or did we just do it for nothing . . . (in context of our scores, I mean)

was the reading section with the literary critic experimental?
he read newspapers to find reviews about his favorite author, something like that

No it was mcqs

when does it come out on collegeboard .com

i think so because i didnt have that passage and i had a math experimental

People are saying that the sections including passages about organic foods or hellen keller were experimental, but I had neither. However, I had one section that ended with 23 questions. How many different experimental sections do they have?

I think I got a CR experimental section. It's weird. I got the CR experimental section everytime I take the SAT. Anyways, I am pretty sure the second CR section was the experimental.

About the last CR section with 2 super long passages, :( I finished reading them but didnt get through all of the questions. I left 4 questions blank or so. Oh well, hopefully it's fine.

is the experimental section different for everybody? i got two math sections with 20 questions. one of them was extremely hard.

For the international test, the CR section that mentioned Shakespears & Newton is experimental.

Do you guys remember the writing exp section?

I think mine is writing...you can check on the CB website for which experimental section you had if you really care to know. That is, if you still remember part of the order in which some of the sections were in.

nomads, painting and rock are all not experimental.

I'm almost positive that my experimental was a Math 25-minute section with 20 mc questions.

One of the distinctive questions was one with a grid with one point marked A, one marked B, and a section labeled "park." Each line on the grid represented 50 yards and the question was to figure out the shortest distance one could travel from A to B

Another one showed a scatter chart of areas and volumes and asked for the median volume and area. (I just remember it being a bit funny because the answer had two parts e.g. 44 and 51,000)

A friend who took the test did not remember those questions so I'm assuming it was experimental. Anyone else have this section?

The writing multiple choice was so easy! Unfortunately, however, I screwed up the essay to unimaginable an extent.

I didn't get any section with old people...

I had two writing sections back-to-back as well, one of them was definitely experimental

If I remember correctly, my sections were
essay, math, reading, math, math [experimental]...and so forth.
I ended up with four math sections. A friend of mine had the same subject up until section 5, then 6-10 were all the same subject as well, which leads me to believe that our fives were experimental.

If I remember, one question on the section 5 math was like a triangle with a side of like 8x and then an additional 2x and a base of something was given and you had to find the base of the smaller triangle...
