yea it was epic simile. i dont remember anything else omg

yeah im starting to remember things as i read through this…

for Mrs. Slipslop, what was the point? Vanity, Greed, class snobbery? That sort of went over my head…

In that vein, the question about the “liquid element” - was that an example of diction?

And lastly, for the excerpt about the Lily, what was the “logged”? I think i said it was a corpse…

^corpse it was.

Yep, it was the exact same test. And, as far as I remember, same as January 2009.

“or Mrs. Slipslop, what was the point? Vanity, Greed, class snobbery?”

i put class snobbery … anyone else?

Yay I put epic similie!

Jackdaniels - I put greed, but I noticed on the other links posted by gcf, many people put vanity.

I also put class snobbery, but I guess I had interpretted the story wrong. It seems it is vanity

i put vanity. i don’t think there was any indication as to what socioeconomic class she was from

I’m going to ask a stupid question: didn’t that question (the one you’re all talking about that had answer choices of vanity, class snobbery, etc) say something along the lines of a “failed ridiculed” theme? I wanted to pick vanity because I felt that that was the most prominent theme in the story but that one word, “failed” made me to pick something else that had nothing to do with the story.

Also, what was the “liquid element”? I put ambiguous because it was definitely ambiguous to me =_= :D

hmm i don’t remember anything about failed ridicule
and i left the one about liquid element blank because i had no idea

Yep. Same test as June of last year.

They kept saying Dee (Wangero) because (I think), Dee was trying to change her ideas by changing her name…

Liquid thing is ambiguity as far as I’m concerned…

Hope everyone did well!!!

For liquid element I put inflated diction, but I really wasn’t sure…

Come to think of it, it could have been ambiguity.

Ehh I missed 6 questions because I ran out of time. I basically decided to do Lit last minute since it’s my last SAT date and I had space for an extra test. What would 6 omits and 10 wrong get me?

I’m pretty sure it was class snobbery
Cause the story was about servants making fun of their mistress, by imitating them.

hahahaha. Where did you see servants? In your lunchbox? The dialogue was between an old woman and a young man who was rejecting her love.

And it definitely was ‘inflated diction’ since ‘liquid element’ is such a nice and grandiose way of saying wa’er.

6 omit 10 wrong is about 600-650, I guess?

I thought it was harder than the practice tests on PR, but that was probably because I ran out of time perfecting my bubbles.

yeah i definitely didn’t see anything about servants. Bilguun’s description is right

and i agree that it was harder than the PR tests… what do you guys think the curve will be like?

hah did anyone else put false modesty for that?!?
for the liquid element i put paradoxical description hahahaha ad;fklajd;
and for the Dee/Wangero one i put a contest for affection…

I had three unfinished…hm:/ and the Yolanda one I rushed very badly…suspecting my general understanding of the passage as my dominant language isn’t English, may I ask if the article discussed how Yoalnda’s mother didn’t know her daughter that well? And…what did u put for Yo’s boyfriend’s “Really” being everything except___?
By the way,I don’t remember I put down inflated diction or paradox…ambiguity, maybe?

yea. it was definitely about some servants because in the last few lines it says that the woman who was in love had to go because her mistress called her.

It was definitely about servants, and I also thought it was “false modesty”. The irony of the woman’s speech was in how she accepted the compliment from the young man.
