@qkrgkfla answer is E, nothing grammatically wrong there
@qkrgkfla it was something like In the research blah blah blah scientists blah blah seriously affect the company right?
@Pinguman123 I put down doubt/skepticism too. Because she was unsure of herself and would think that maybe, just maybe, her teacher/husband was mocking her. What do you guys think?
@asiankid88 @nummerelf Thank god I probably got it right then.
I can only remember that the first option was (A)“that”…
Other two I can remember:
Name, the (A)most eccentric person (B)I know, blablabla
->Not sure B should be “I have ever known” or not…
Other one is from the writing dummy section (probably; the improving essay passage was about Egyptian something)
(A)Had it not been ???, ? could (B)be ??
-> even tho this one is from dummy section, but just to make sure… I chose A because “Had it not been, V+p.p” has to match, but the sentence after the comma did not underline that part… Any ideas>?
@qkrgkfla I dont remember this one, and I didn
t get the dummy section for writing, mine was CR.
Any relevant math questions that you guys thought were tricky and/or hard?
Oh, and I remember there was a really tricky question on writing (Or perhaps I just overanalyzed). It was 23 or 24 I guess. It was about a book written by someone, I went something like: When the book was written, NAMEOFTHEAUTHORs NAMEOFTHEBOOK blablabla. Do you guys remember this one? I can
t remember how it was exactly though
@nummerelf For the X one, I believe the only way is through counting the possibilities.
Do you guys remember the echolocation passage. One of the answers was either ‘color’ or ‘sound’. What is most likely correct?
@nummerelf did you have a writing experimental section?
@DerRoteBaron You mean the question that has had “color of birds” “sound they produce” or something like that in the answers? Well, I marked E, it was something like “the way they produce sound”, I have been struggling between “Sound they produce” and “The way they produce it” and ultimately I chose the second one…
@oz4nss Do you remember the question?
There’s this one question about the chinese artist, which asked why she preferred drawing to embroidery.
Did anyone put “she could focus more intensely”?
@oz4nss OK, I’ve found it. The question asked "Why did the author mention the ‘bird of paradise’ in line etc etc "
Here’s the actual passage, from the book “The Blind Watchmaker”
“…Perhaps male bats have body surfaces that are subtly textured so that the echoes that bounce off them are perceived by females as gorgeously coloured, the sound equivalent of the nuptial plumage of a bird of paradise. I don’t mean this just as some vague metaphor. It is possible that the subjective sensation experienced by a female bat when she perceives a male really is, say, bright red: the same sensation as I experience when I see a flamingo.”
Now the ‘plumage of a bird of paradise’ can only really mean referring to its color. So I put that.
That was my reasoning.
@DerRoteBaron I think it was not because so that she could focus more, but rather so she can discard of her mistakes more easily. she liked to draw so when she made a mistake, all she had to do was rip it off
@DerRoteBaron yeah, you’re right, it seems i misread it
@asiankid88 also right about your second question… It wasn’t about focusing, it was about being able to “undo” things while drawing.
@asiankid88 Ach. That might cost me.
@asiankid88 Oh and what’s your opinion on the sound v color debate?
I think a pretty strong argument could be made for personification.
“Lulled into a dreamy daze by the rain-patter on the glass, she is thinking about the old French priest from their outing; about the deft assurance with which those meaty hands captured a flowers frail beauty.”
Rain-patter can’t lull someone into a dreamy daze, it is being assigned human attributes. At least that’s what I think, I don’t know if I’m extrapolating.
And it is 100% exemplary skill, cause “deft” means exhibiting exemplary skill.
I’m so scared someone on this thread mentioned that there was an answer 11<x<12, i remember putting 12<x<13.
Can someone remember the values of the sides of the triangle?
@americandream69 I’m pretty positive it was 11.(something) so it had to be 11<x<12. But I can’t remember any of the question’s data.
I got 3 no errors in writing, anyone with me?
Also can anyone recall some(if not all) paragraph improvement questions? Other than the (fortunately-moreover) one & the (delete it from passage) one
Par. Imp. isn’t the best for me
Thank you all in advance
I think I chose 11<x<12 on that maths question as well. The sides were 6 and 10 because other triangles were equilateral so we get 10^2*6^2=136 x=11.6… Thus the answer was 11<x<12.
What was the answer for the question like “there must be one X in each row and column. How many possible ways there are?”? I found 6 on that question. Is it true?
Does anyone also remember the question that was like “The war for independence finally over, the congress of blah blah blah” What was the answer for it?
@AmericanDream69 No, that’s not personification. If rain had sung a song, that would be a personification, or it should have been crying or something like that. It must have been something that a human could do but an object couldn’t… Someone could be fascinated by objects but it would not make those objects human-like.
And yes, the other one you mentioned was “exemplary skill”.
And about triangle question: sides were 6 and 10 thus the unknown side has had a value between 11 and 12.
@Starior
X-Box question was 6, yes. 3x2x1 = 6
I don’t remember that verbal question exactly, wasn’t that an error identification?
