***January 2016 SAT (US Only) Thread***

lol I’m in Maryland, and we’re expecting 12 inches of snow overnight Friday…

@HappinessXOX sameee omg I will be happy with a 680! The other day I got a 660 in CR and was cheesing my butt off lol. I just need math and writing to be outstanding on Saturday so I can achieve a high 2100 or 2200 even (:

I don’t even know what to feel right now. It’s that awkward moment when you’re close to the SAT date but you’re still far away. I’m nervous, yet oddly calm. It’s so weird… Plus I need to memorize vocab and do more reading practice.

@garyasho2 I think that’s a nice chunk of us at this point lol…something like the calm before the storm (;

look at the international thread @omar17

collegeboard website down for a whole day, 2 ft of snow coming, what in the world am i gonna do

Dont know if even want to bother studying these next few days, dont have an admissions ticket and i doubt my center will open anyways

with collegeboard website down, does ANYONE know where I can get the bluebook answer explanations?! I’m in dire need of help on some of the questions

But if anyone can help, can you pls explain this writing question to me. it’s last question of section 10 of test 8 in the second blue book.

High school graduates usually do not end up earning as much income as college graduates (do, this being why so many high school students) go on to pursue college degrees.

I picked: do, explaining why so many high school students
The right answer: do; this fact explains why so many high school students

What is wrong about the answer that I chose? Thanks

@c0llegeb0und2468 “This fact” is doing the explaining. With the answer you chose, there will be a dangling modifier. It would be implied that college graduates would be the ones explaining with your answer, when in reality, it was the fact itself.

Btw guys, if the test is to be canceled, how many days in advance will they let us know?

ik a lot of ppl want a 2200…so I’ll sell you mine for like 10 bucks :p. Its useless to me anyways.

the SAT site has been down all day… updating test closings maybe?

For 2017ers, what will you do if you don’t score well enough on this old version? Take the new SAT or opt for ACT? As a math/science oriented person, I think ACT will suit me better but I’m also worried that colleges might still prefer SAT even though they stated there’s no difference… Any thoughts?

@ambitiousgeek If you think the ACT will be better for you, then do it! Lol, my plan is to just do well on this last test, but if not prob the new SAT because I did really well on the PSAT.

@JuicyMango are you being sarcastic with us? lol I’ll gladly buy it! (;

Okay so someone told me that if you take the old sat more than 3 times( this one will be my fourth) that they will average your indivudal section scores instead of super scoring by taking the highest in each. Is this true??

no

“Makeup to be administered on 2/20/16”
For 6 places in Virginia and 1 in Pennsylvania.

Do you think they’ll end up doing that for everyone? I’m not really sure if I want the test to be delayed. Mostly just want to get it over with.

dont understand why some test centers are closing just to have students go to another testin center. Theres still gonna be two feet of snow on the ground lol

The makeup exam on 2/20 will definitely be different than the one administered this saturday right

I just feel bad for the waitlisted ticket people, since they got rejected and will be forced to take the new SAT. Ugh, what a disaster. Thankful it’s not snowing that badly in Ohio right now.
