Retaking from December!
me too^ My scores are out tomorrow. I’ll post here any updates on my superscore, if there are any.
Re-taking from December test too ^^
I was really unhappy with my scores…
Does anyone know any study tips or tricks to help me increase my score?
Please and Thank You in Advance
Well… if you want the sad truth, there are no tricks and you should work hard… there’s no way around. You should understand your mistakes VERY WELL for a long time before you see improvements, specially reading. (My score increases suddenly on reading)
One good way to study is to do a full test every weekend and give yourself the whole week to analyze it fully. I improved by 140 points in a month doing this. You can also practice using Erica’s grammar book (should take you a few days if you’re good at writing) and her reading book. Her books are excellent.
Retaking from December lol…my superscore is at a 2290 now. I just want a 2300+ :/.
@JuicyMango OMG THIS IS SO ANNOYING T_T These 10 points OMG!
I also want a 2300 superscore. So far it’s 2210 but I’ll post here if I have any updates tomorrow once I know my scores hopefully.
@BethanyD LOL yeah I was sooo annoyed. My breakdown is 800 math, 740 critical reading, and 750 writing. Writing is really annoying for me because I get perfects on practice tests but then screw up on the real thing. Critical Reading was pretty accurate, but I wish I got a 750. My essay is a solid 10, which is another annoying thing because no matter how hard I try I can’t bring it up to an 11 or 12 :/.
For you guys, is super score or single-sitting more important? I’m debating whether to retake, because I’m happy with my superscore (730 Math, 800 CR, 800 writing) but not happy with my single sitting (730 Math, 800 CR, 710 Writing, 2240 composite). Don’t know how my writing score dropped so much on the second try.
I took the SAT for the first time back in November and am retaking in January. My breakdown then was 800CR, 720 W, and 670M. On all my practice tests, I had scored consistently high on W but I messed up on the essay pretty badly in November so I’m pretty sure I can improve there without too much difficult, but what I can’t seem to do is raise my M score. Any suggestions? (I’ve been doing a section daily in BB + reviewing my mistakes)
Superscore of 2320
760r, 800m, 760wr
760wr was in 8th grade lol, and I got two 750s this year.
@BethanyD Thanks so much, I’m planning on taking one practice test every other day and reviewing/analyzing them in between. I’ll try Erica’s Grammar book too. Also, I was wondering how you achieved a higher math score.
Aiming for a 2100! Thanks
@JuicyMango and @thetex
I’d also like to know how you studied for Math to get 800s.
Update!!!
MATH 800 YAAAS
New superscore 2270! M 800 CR 700 WR 770
I’m SO HAPPY!
@JuicyMango I also always get a 10 essay no matter what - what really brings my writing score up is the MCQ (76/80) I think you should just calm down tbh! If I were you I’d read Erica’s book again and focus on what I think I messed up on on the real test - but I honestly think you just need to relax! (and think of math sections as “break time” xD)
@arcana8gleam For math, I did the same thing. From the test I took at once, throughout each week, I studied the 3 sections carefully (re-wrote all of the steps even if it was a stupid level 1 question) and made sure I understood the steps well. That was for a 720-740. As for the 800, I collected all the sections I ever practiced with since I started SAT prep and analyzed what kind of questions I get wrong. (counting, circles, etc… for example)
I listed them on a little notebook and started searching for hard questions of the type. I first studied the lessons I’m bad at on brilliant.org and did their quiz, then looked up on google tough questions of that type. (I used PWN the SAT’s Q&A too). I only practiced questions I struggle with or get wrong, not whole sections.
So it’s clear now. I need to focus on critical reading only for this trial!
@BethanyD I couldn’t relax because I later found out I was having an asthma attack during the test lol :P. But this time that won’t happen because I’ve taken the proper medication.
Great job on your superscore! And getting an 800 in math!! Your writing MCQ is really good…I don’t know why I got such a low score (70), the most I miss on practice tests is 1 :/. I guess its back to Meltzer’s books for me.
I really think it’s a matter of being comfortable during testing. Writing is the only subject I never took seriously on all 3 trials during testing, and it (was until yesterday ) my highest score.
I got the highest scores on each section when I was indifferent. So I really think your issue is just a matter of anxiety. I’m sure if you’re as relaxed as you are at home you’d get an 770 at least, if not an 800. (the curve was bad for me on both Oct and Nov when I got 770 but hopefully not for you xD)
I agree, I’d say revise Erica’s book while doing one section every 5 days and fully analyzing the questions even if you got them right. With this and a calm mind on the test day, you SHOULD get the score you want!
Yes when I saw my math scores I was so shocked! I expected 650, and a 700 at most if the curve was generous!
Great job @BethanyD! You deserve the success.
do colleges see how many times one has taken the SAT? And which colleges superscore? I find the superscoring to be extremely idiotic as one can take the test several times to receive a higher superscore
How are you all doing with practice?
