the prompt was how much importance should be placed on others advice when making good descisions
i said yes, the essay went something ike this
As the saying goes, “two minds are better than one.” we like to thik that we have all the answers, but our flaws prevent us from making all important decisions correctly. Fortunately, this is where people come in. WHen we place importance on others advice, we combine multiple perspectives…(i dont really remember this part) that provide a well rounded perspective that enable us to make good decisions correctly.
second paragraph:
The austin think tank is a model of how well this works…(something like that). They have innovated many useful inventions that contribute to society. The reason this happens is because we combine all of our perspectives. when human minds work together, we choose the parts of other peoples ideas that are good and then consolidate the results. Each perspective checks the others, so then we are presented with a perspective that is the key to making a good decision.
Proof of this is also shown in a more personal light. My friend, Emily, was stuck in a quagmire. She had recently completed the sat, but she “knew” she failed and pondered whther to cancel her scores or not. Fortunetly, herf friends, including me, hurriedly told her not to cancel and told her why. After placing much importance on our advice, Emily decided not to cancel. As a result, she woke up the day the scores came out and delightedly recieved a 2300. This success shows us that when placing importance on others advice, we learn to look at things from a different perspective and thus are more likely to make good desicions.
All in all, the Austin think tank and Emily show us how beneficial it is to place importance on others advice. (i forgot what i wrote her but its something like: by combining our minds and others, we are presented with a wiser, smarter perspective that is more likely to make important desicions correctly.)
OK i know it was bad…idk what happened to me. Please give me an honest score so that i can expect the worst. it was redundant, i know, not insightful…omg i want to go back in time and fix it
but anyways, ignore the grammar error bc ther arent on the actual thing. sorry for the typos im rushed bc i gtg somewhere. Im expecting a 5, 6. If you do answer, please justify it. Thanks guys!
@lollypip first, I hope you answered the “how much” question. It didn’t ask “should” we take others advice. Although, I don’t know if they even care about something so trivial. I would give you a 5. It’s a full 2 pages which basically guarantees you at least a 4 or 5, but I didn’t find the examples/arguments particularly powerful. They seemed a bit too general. I did get a 12 on the Dec exam (if that gives me any credibility) but I could be completely wrong and you could end up getting both 6’s or 4’s for all i know.
pillows and sk: thanks for commenting, and @pillowspillows: i did mention that we should put much importance on advice at least three times. Will that raise the score?
@sk4045 : thanks for the score, but if you don’t mind, can I have some justification?
@lollypip I agree with pillowpillows about the examples, they aren’t powerful enough. but I do think you have the right idea and reasoning. I just think that your body paragraphs are not convincing enough but thats just my personal writing style
@sk4045 thanks so much for the justification and on another note, (I know my essay rn doesn’t sound too good but I got a 9 and 10 on previous essays) your examples seem like very good ones, did you provide insightful reasoning? If yes, you probably got a good score.
