Yes.
@JuicyMango I would say Prompt 2 is difficult for me because I would have difficulty of supporting my thesis. The yes or no answer to the prompt wouldn’t be bad (for this one I would answer yes) but it’s the process of incorporating well-developed examples into the essay. With only 25 minutes, you could probably maybe in 2 minutes come up with good examples to use but sometimes when you are in the moment of writing a timed essay you can feel rushed, as I was in mine. Now that I think about it, for Prompt 2 the Salem Witch Trials could be one good example, for the support of the thesis that widespread acceptance and repetition could make a foolish thing seem wise.
Do you remember how you answered?
if you get bad luck on your oct and dec test, will you get good luck on your jan test?
Well, we all need good luck since this is our last time that we can take the old SAT, and there is no way I’m taking the new SAT. It’s too risky.
I didn’t know there was more than one prompt. My kid got prompt #2. Mountain time zone.
Well, counting on “luck” is not a particularly strong position to be in. But I hope you all get the scores you’re hoping for.
It’s an interesting theory that each time zone gets a different essay prompt. I’m in the Eastern time zone and had essay #1 about advice and decision making.
@thetex I don’t think luck has a defined pattern. As Seneca says, “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.”
@HappinessXOX For the first paragraph, I talked about the view of 19th and 20th century Americans regarding the inferiority of black people. Basically about how its a foolish idea when judged by modern standards, but it was so widely accepted that no one complained or tried to change anything for a while. My second paragraph was a (rushed) discussion about how people also accepted Aristotle’s earth-centered theory (I know it wasn’t Aristotle but essay graders don’t care about historical accuracy). Hopefully I get at least a 9, but idk since I only wrote like 1.75 pages and in retrospect, I made a lot of grammatical mistakes. But what’s done is done I guess.
I had topic of self change before world change. Probably second hardest
@c0llegeb0und2468 I got the same prompt as you and I’m in eastern time zone.
@JuicyMango those sound like great examples compared to my lame one on the American Revolution and a personal example on figure skating. What’s done is done I can agree with, I wish I could go back and edit what I wrote two weeks ago.
@HappinessXOX Lol same. I’m pretty sure I aced the writing MC so my writing score is basically at the mercy of the essay graders. I got a 10 the last 2 times I took the SAT, but this time I felt like my essay was really short and of low quality because I’m pretty sure my proctor only gave us 20 minutes. But I guess I’ll see how I did on Thursday.
Does anyone kno the ans of dec sat math que which term was the first positive no in the series -7,-5.5,-4? Is it 6th or 7th… anyone who got 800 in dec math, what did u put?
@peacenepal 6th obv…
Did college board release the prompts on its site?
This is the Tweet I sent to College Board on February 3rd:
3 feb
“@CollegeBoard Students report US SAT 1/16 = US SAT 6/14. Was the same test reused? If so, will the curve be the same or re-equated?”
This is the response I received today:
“We do not comment on the specifics of form usage and administration schedules, in order to protect the security of our tests.”
Funny, I would have thought that if CB wanted to protect the security of the tests, it would not recycle them.
@Plotinus You actually tweeted them? O.o College Board is College Board it’s not like they are going to tweet back an honest reply that “Yes we reused the June 2014 SAT for the January 2016 SAT, and NO the curve will not be the same.” ._.
@HappinessXOX I take the fact that CB did not deny it recycled the test as a tacit admission, and I think many others will read it this way too. It is should be out in public.
Does anyone know what the curve for the June test was?
Please post it if u know
