I got a 2220 in June as a sophomore (680M 790W 750R), I’m really hoping to get to around a 2320 in January…
I really need like a perfect score on this test considering my lackluster GPA…
@JuicyMango me too
Ive been practiving a lot and i consistently get 4 wrong on CR and 1 wrong on writing
idk what else to study
@smileydinosaur I’m in pretty much the same situation as you…I’m getting perfect on math and writing but I keep missing 3 or 4 on cr, and I can never seem to get an 800 :/. I’ve pretty much run out of practice SAT’s to take, so I’m just focusing on my essay.
I’m in the same boat as you guys! I need to get a 730+ CR score to reach my goal at least I’m practicing writing too for an 800 (even though I got 770) just in case - who knows, reading might suck, but I might get an 800 on writing! I have to be ready for anything.
How do you guys avoid careless mistakes on the Math section? I know all concepts but my errors usually include carelessness and no matter what I do, I cannot seem to avoid them.
If you are a fast worker then go ahead and do the problem twice. Just treat the problem like you have not worked it before. If you are a slow worker, then make sure you make no math errors, and try making your work clean so you can easily identify if you do something wrong.
I’ve been going over alot of geometry especially central angles, inscribed angles, radii etc. because I usually miss geometry problems and scored my first 740 in math (3 wrong). Soooo freakin happy. Now if I can do this on the real test… (;
@savambi in practice sections I did have the “silly mistakes” problem - but when it came to the real thing - what dragged my score down was “I’m too nervous to continue solving” not silly mistakes. So first tip, take it very seriously, but not to the extent of getting too nervous to solve.
Second tip: have a notebook where you write down every single silly mistake you do (this means getting all the practice sections you ever solved and extracting all your silly mistakes from them) Revise the notebook the day before the test, and read it again before going to the test center if you won’t get nervous.
@JuicyMango same Ive done all the practice tests and the ones in the book now.
Right now Im working on memorizing more vocab. I want to improve my essay, but I dont really know how, any tips?
@savambi what maybe helpful tip is after you solve a problem and bubble it in, read over the problem again and if you can plug your answer back into the equations. Also underline or circle key phrases like 2x idk hope this helps
I hate critical reading. I HATE CRITICAL READING AGHHHH. I need a 740+, and I only got a 710 in December. Plus, I think I got lucky on the writing portion in December, because I am FAILING my practice tests. YAYYYY. (Lord, help me.)
SAME^^^^
@BethanyD samee i think im in a good position to get an 800 this time around…i missed 4 last test and got a 10 essay…so I will be working on mc and essay scores relentlessly. I need to get my 2200! :((
@BethanyD @garyasho2 by failing do you mean not reaching your goal or doing awfully? I bet youre only missing a few questions
By fail I mean I’m not reaching my goal (and no, if we get 710 and 700 we miss some nice 8-10 questions)
@savambi Read and lie to yourself. Im not even joking literally read the question for what its asking and dont let your mind trick you. Remind yourself every practice test that you will not be tricked. I know it sounds silly, but try it out. That mentality helped me to become so meticulous on the math part of the SAT. Also be sure to check your answers! Each and every one…otherwise you will be tricked. That is all. (:
and heyyy I also missed 4 with a 10 essay last time!! LOL
So this is my first time on the sat, I’m kind of nervous
It seems like all of you’ve taken it before
