January 28th SAT -- quick question.

Hello! I recently took the SAT this Saturday. On the essay portion, I was quite crunched for time and was in the middle of my last sentence of my conclusion when the test proctor said to put our pencils down. I had about four words left to write. It was a relatively well-written essay with historical and logical evidence. This was also my first time taking the SAT. Will that incompleteness take a lot away from my essay score?

Replies would be greatly appreciated!

No, I wouldn’t think it would degrade your score by more than a point. It really matters on how influential those last four words were. If those words were the linchpin of the conclusion, then yes, your score might go down by a point. Otherwise, I’m sure the graders will understand what you meant to say, and they might forgive the missing part.

On the other hand, if you made a lot of conventional errors that distracted the reader, then the four words missing from the conclusion could just put a cherry on top of all of that (making a terrible impression).

To be honest, I wouldn’t worry too much because you said it was relatively well-written with historical and logical evidence, which should give you most of the points.

What is the very last question? A? E? teh last question of the test, something that has “evidenced”…?

HI suppeeps,

@Thiruvin0000 is correct. It would be disingenuous of a grader to reduce your score significantly if those four words were your worst offender.

With that said, if you essay was mediocre, with not-so-great examples and weak transitions, those missing words might be the icing on the disaster.

If you wrote a good essay up until that point, it won’t really matter. If your essay was terrible, it might be enough to annoy your grader into giving you a lower grade.

Craig Gonzales

can i also make a quick question? did someone have an experimental section as a writing section?? which one of the two 35 question section is the experimental one? cuz i did really well on one and really badly on the other :(

I would have just completed the sentence… it was four words, how long could that have taken?
