January Critical Reading SAT Thread

well anyway it was an experimental section (well at least thats what i think) so we shouldn't worry about it should we?

I put dismayed.

The definition of emphatic is: spoken with emphasis; "an emphatic word"

In the passage the narrator says that everything we've been doing so far has been wrong (and in a dismayed tone). But i remember that i had some conflicting opinions on that question..it was the only one i changed after i put it. I think at first i misread and thought it was refering to passage 1. I'm not sure.

i think i put emphatic b/c his opinion was unwavering and he was stressing his opinion or something..don't quite remember what the author said

bump
lets talk about the comic passage. Especially the last page
what did you guys get for.
1) misunderstood creation vs ill conceived failure-- i am personally for the misunderstood one, because failure is too extreme considering the context... I donno..
2) there was this question based on one of the last sentences in the second passage (eg something about sins and how kids are exposed to greatest deeds). WAs the question asking for passge 2's opinion or 1's? does anyone know the exact wording.
3) did one of the answers in the later questions of the passage have teh word education in it

the venus one is def. an experimental...

anyone had the agricultural one? i think that's a little confusing also!

i put ill conceived failure..don't remember question tho so can't really help u =/. i don't remember the sins one.I remembered there was a q that asked for passage 1's tone compared to that of passage 2 (severe). I don't remember ur third one either lol.

did anybody have a bunch of e's strung together in the writing section (around #25-29, questions right before improving paragraph)

hmmmm..maybe i got wrong..

i hope venus one is the real one and the agriculture one is experimental..

i also had a friends pretend life easy short passage..anyone had the same?

for venus, what did u put for the main purpose of the passage? was it to discuss attempts at understanding an astronomical anomaly or wondering about life

what's pretend life easy about?

yes venus is the real one.

I did not have an agricultural one. I had one about art which was experimental.

by agriculture did he mean overpopulation? what was your one about art about

@communist night...im pretty sure that the purpose was neither of those. I don' t remember what it was but it wasn't 'astronomical anomaly' or 'wondering about life'. The passage was about the theories (regarding Venus) being disproved by a the space probe that landed there

do u remember the exact wording of that answer chioce?

The art one was about a critic who used to be obsessed with the reading the praise about a female author ( I forgot the name, it was C something).

I believe that the question was asking what was the purpose of a certain paragraph in the passage. I think the answer was unreliable data or something (it might have been the next question that had that answer)

yeah the literary critic..i hope that one is experimental, but there were 25 questions on one of my other sections (map) so i don't know

i dont have that art one..i think i put on enigma thing?

do you have the agricultural one??? has examples from maya and a europe country?? that passage is pretty hard...i hope is an experimental one. i had 4 CRs.! sucks!

no i remember that question..i think i'm talking about the first question of that passage that asked for what the passage was about

i had 4 cr's too.. i didn't have a maya one so perhaps urs is experimental. ZTT, do u have either the one with the map or the literary critic?

Atomicbomb22..i think for ur question i put the purpose of the paragraph was to introduce 2 theories (1 of soda water oceans due to CO2 and 1 of plant and dragonfly life on venus)

CommunistKnight

yes i do have the venus one, but no literary critic i guess.

all i had is

hispanis girl/ a second i cant remember now/ slang/ a short one, cant remember/ "empty" 2 short essays/ map/ venus/ comic 2 long passages + agricultural one
