January Sat I Test Takers!

Who's taking it and what are your plans for the upcoming month?

I'm taking it in January. I just plan on practicing out of the Blue Book and maybe look review strategies from PR. I have about two weeks over winter break to do this and then I plan on doing light review throughout Jan.

me!!!!!!!!
IM SOoooooooooooooooooooo freaked out man :P

sike i dont care that much for SATs cause im failing my classes right now

Just planning to finish off the tests in the blue book and review some vocab; It's my last exam and I've sent all my scores so it don't really matter :)

I signed up to take the SAT in January. Considering how badly I did on my December SAT, studying is definitely in order. I probably will do as many practice tests as I can out of the Blue Book and look over a few prep books. I'm not sure how else to prepare.

Practice tests and major critical reading prep and perfecting math for my final test ever! My last shot better turn out well!

My plan is to memorize tons of vocab and practice reading comprehension to get my CR score up from 670 to 700.

For writing I'll just practice practice practice to get my score up from 720 to 750.

tons of practice, wanna raise all of my sections to at least over 730, gotta see what happens...

I'm doing it for the first time in January. I need to start prepping now considering most people in the Bahamas suck at it. But I'm different, Hopefully. :P

haha if you guys need advices, just ask me man.

i got my CR score from 610 to 750!
my writing score from 630 to 750

namkim, i got a 610 CR in december and I would love a 750 in january!! Tell me more!!!

are you a jr or a senior?

junior

my scores in december were...
CR: 610
M: 710
W:700 (10 essay)

if ur a junior, dont take the jan test? thats my opinion.

but for CR, you need massive vocab.

i just memorized like crap loads of vocab from sparknotes.com and barron's hot words for sat.

then i did massive practice problems (blue book, 11tests from princeton, kaplan) for the reading passages. after a while, i started understanding the passages/questions!!!!!! you need to FOCUS when you do it though.

for math, i just read the questions 3 times, answered it, and checked my answer. it took me like 18 mins to fniish the section this way (i usually finish under 10 mins). after that, i went back and solved the problems again.

for writing, its just massive practice from the blue book, 11 sat tests from pr, and kaplan. then i memorized many idioms.

for the essay, i already had about 10 examples that i could use in any essay even before taking the test. i did some research the night before and printed out some examples that i could use. i memorized them.

and the most important thing is that you dont lose focus during the test. dont get too nervous either. those things will kill ya.

i hope my advices helped

When practicing the essay portion for the Writing Section, how did you grade that?

Did you ask CCers to grade the essay, have adults look at it, use online sources?

Is there really a way to accurately grade practice essays?

I seem to be doin ok in math and cr. But writing is my achilles heel. Like idk it seems like i have no clue what im doing. So, i got the peterson's writing workbook and am looking through it. I feel like i never learned this stuff and im freaking out. What should i do???????

gah, yea Im taking jan sats. Nervous as heck...., my best section is writing but I keep getting this feeling that Im just going to forget all my grammar and bomb that section...., anyone else feeling this way?

the best you can do is study the often-recurring problems in writing and train your eyes to spot them.

i never actualyl wrote any essays

word. i'm taking it.

i'm not really worried because i'm a junior and, so...you know.

practice tests out the face, yo. this xmas break is gunna be ffuuuuuunnnnnnnn.

does the essay count for your writing section score or is it just a seperate score???
