um ._. I think January will be filled with Kasey typing out her Bio and World notes to prepare for her AP Exams.

I think I'm just going into this SAT naked, might review a little the night before @@ but I guess it sorta depends on how well I did on this December ACT bites nails gah .. I want to get my scores solid by end of Junior year >_< I don't want to rush next year, I want to focus on my apps then

My first ever official SAT. I'm scared. I bought a couple of books and have been working with them, but whenever I did practices sections or whatnot I always get a relatively bad score. For the PSAT's, I got 68 Critical Reading, 67 Math, and 78 Writing, but on some practice sections I get like a 600 Critical Reading, 620 Math... I'm kinda freaked out. I guess I always seem to do better on the real thing because I know it counts for something.

Anywho, my realistic goal is to (besides get a 2400) get one good score in one or two sections that I can be happy with no matter what I do in the future; ie, if I get an 800 Writing or an 800 Math or an 800 Critical Reading I'll be happy this time around. And I also need to find some really good essay examples because I need a 12 or else my friend won't let me ever hear the end of it. =)

By the way, does anyone have the Rocket Review book?

yep th essay counts, but it is only a small part of your writing score. I got a 11 on my essay and I only got a 690 :(
PS. Don't even study for it, its is probably the easiest part of the test. I learned english as a second language ( spanish being my native language) and I was able to get an 11 with absolutely no practice, I am sure you'll be able to get a 12 easily.

I know it's easy... I'm just nervous because I always get 5's (10's) and I've only gotten a six just a month or two ago on a PR essay online. I know it's not that much of your score; I only want to do good because my friend got a 12 and she'll never let me hear the end of it if I don't get a 12 also.

I decided today to take it again, could have saved a few bucks deciding this earlier.... I don't understand how I've scored so low on the essay (8 and 9). I mean, I have always considered myself to be a fairly strong writer and I got a 4 on the AP Eng. test.

hey namkim..i would love some good advice as to how i can raise my writing score.did u read any grammar book? or did u just keep doing writing sections? i really need to murk the jan sats since its gonna be my last!

i'm taking it too. i have a prep book here called ''sat strategies for super busy students" by kaplan. i'm gonna read that book, take the practice tests and hope for the best. i scored a 1650 in the nov. one and i'm aiming for a 1800-1900.

i'm taking the jan. SAT I and im sooo nervous. i got wrecked on the verbal PSAT vocabulary- 4 wrong. That's all I need to bring my score up to around 700-750ish range. Any suggestions for cram books for the vocab? I did all those yellow cards in the Barrons book and around 500+ more words.

p.s. How do PSAT & SAT scores compare? I got 2180 on PSAT but if I get the vocab on the jan SAT I'm hoping for around 2300. Possible?

for the essay, i already had about 10 examples that i could use in any essay even before taking the test. i did some research the night before and printed out some examples that i could use. i memorized them.

is this something you can share, if so could you e-mail it to me at orbit123@aol.com

I heard from some of my friends that the January SAT I is easier but has a harsher curve due to the large amounts of middle school students taking the test for talent search programs. Is this true?
