Hey guys, so I had some standardized testing issues. I’ve taken the SAT 1 and 2s a ton, and although i’ve managed to increase my scores a bit they still aren’t really that great for some of the elite schools i’m applying to (Ivy leagues). I have a 2080 on the SAT 1 (750CR 660M 670W), a 650 on the French SAT subject and I managed to boost my SAT 2 LIT to a 790. I was wondering if I should just apply with the scores I have and hope for the best or If I should try my luck at the January SAT?
If you’re shooting for the Ivies, that M and W score will likely hurt your chances significantly. I’m not sure if you can make big gains between now and the Jan exam, but if the Ivies are really your goal, then you might want to go all out and give it a shot. What do you have to lose?
As for subject tests, well, that French isn’t going to help you, but that’s an awesome Lit score. Well done. @Ballerina11
Thanks so much! Ya I have low hopes for the ivies, im applying to a couple slightly less elite schools and a good number of safety as well but the ivies are the dream. Anyone else?
High school isn’t about taking tests over and over. It seems obsessive to me and not what Ivy League schools are looking for anyway. Do something more meaningful with your time!
Well how many times have you taken it first of all? If you end up taking it again, I really suggest the Barron’s Math Workbook. If you read it page by page, word for word, and do all the problems in it (no matter how simple), I honestly think anyone would be capable of a 750+ (definitely feasible to finish in time for January). For writing, literally everyone here on CC says Erica Meltzer is a blessing (also super possible to finish in a timely manner). Best of luck!
I’ve taken it three times. My best score is a single sitting not a super score though…don’t know if that helps much. Thanks so much for the input guys!
