can we choose our roomates?

Thanks Chrisr88.

How long after you mailed them did the admissions page change? I mailed 'em about a week ago and still nothing has changed... should I be worried?

yes, you can choose roomates

hi, im from the bay area.. and i know not alot of people around here goes to irvine.. i was wondering which dorms do i go to in order to have people that dont go back to their homes one weekends. i mean, i dont want to be alone during weekends... and what if i get stuck with people that do commute.. what do i do then? i dont think much people from my school are going there so i cant even hang out with my own schoolmates.

whats the most social dorm at uci?

is bike common in uci?

How close is the airport to the main campus? Does UCI have a shuttle service to/from?

I just sent in my SIR (I feel guilty for saying no to UBSB for some reason lolz).. anyways.. I signed up for housing but when does it actually ask you which one u want (MC or ME???)

cbf88: The airport is less than five minutes away from the campus. Not sure about a shuttle service though.

The only shuttle service that I know of is the OCTA bus that runs from the University Center to John Wayne Airport. It's route 470, and it runs on a limited time schedule. Weekdays only.

collegeishomafan, I heard from Destination UCI that they have a 'NorCal' dorming community. They didn't give specifics, but I think it's something like that. x)

I checked the UCI admission site and it' didn't say whether I was accepted or not, but this leads to the question is it a bad sign? I put my major as - Preferred Major: BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES - Alternate Major: BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING: PREMEDICAL. My gpa is 3.65 and my sat scores are around 1400, should I start to panic?

Hey everyone. I just got home from a family deal. Thanks a bunch for those who answered the questions from the prospective students. I really love UCI and want to support those who want to come here. I recommend everyone read my reply to Selina.

As a mechanical engineering major, you?ll have a lot of classes at MSTB and PSLH. It takes awhile to walk to both of those living at mesa court so living at middle earth would lessen the daily distance. Overall though, there is no particular dorm I would suggest. Each have their pros and cons which makes them fairly equal.

Collegeishomafan:

I?m also from the bay area and I do sometimes suffer from my own friends occasionally leaving me because they have business at home to finish. There is seriously no definite answer to your question since it?s going to be all random depending on the students who sign up for that dorm theme on top of other things.

Bman14:

The most social dorms would be the more artsy dorms since they would include art majors. The first year holds a chillax period for art majors. At Mesa Court, the more social dorms would be of the ?General Interest? ones. Once again, it?s still random.

Confident:

There are plenty of bikers at UCI but it?s not necessarily ?common.? I bike everyday and I enjoy beating friends to class and reducing walking time. There?s a lot of uphill at UCI though so be prepared for those. Here?s a tip: get a light bike =].

The airport is seriously like 4-5 stoplights away from UCI. Use google map to check it out. There is actually crap transportation to the airport from UCI. To bus directly there it?ll take about 1 hr? Check the OCTA website for more info. But I heard there is a bus that takes you a little further from John Wayne airport. It?ll take a little bit of walking to complete the trip. Most people use the Blue Van or a cab.

The first step of housing is basically just declaring where you will be living next year -- dorms or Arroyo Vista. You can still change your MC/ME option when they give you the full application for housing later in the summer.

AznSweetie1588:

I?m going to be straight up with you. Your stats definitely pose a threat towards your admissions. UCI has been keeping you on their fishing line for awhile now so you still have a small chance. If you get in, you'll probably end up in BioSci since engineering is impacted at every university.

do you suggest to choose a roomate OR get one randomly

buddy:

If you know someone who will be a great roommate then pick that person. Otherwise, weigh out the two. Compare your possible roommates with the possible roommates you could get by chosing random.

how do you get into CHP if you didn't qualify when you first got in?

what are the requirements?

The Brian:

You can apply for CHP again after one quarter. You might end up giving it two quarters though. Once again I believe CHP is a great program. It offers so much. I've been scared to apply for it since I'm an engineering major though, haha. To get in you must fill out an application and look competitive in terms of your GPA. You need at LEAST a 3.5 to get in. 3.5 sounds easy for high school, but don't be alarmed if you miss it by a bit durign freshman year. Here's the website where you can find more info and the application:

can we choose campus village as freshman?
and if we can, we choose our roommates?
The campus village estimated cost was 4993, is that the combined cost for every person that rents, or is it 4993 for each individual?

i still haven't gotten it and it's April 1, 2007 12:38 AM PST

i'd also like to know if we can choose our roommates?

errisee:

You can't live in CV as a freshman. You can, however, choose your roommate for any housing option on campus. The estimated cost would be per student per year.

The Brian:

You can definitely choose your roommate.
