^ I know a BME who had the exact same schedule. He seemed fine to me.

gohans:

i think thats basically what all bme's take.

i'm thinking of adding a class right now to fulfill my breadth reqs since i only have 13 units right now for fall07, can someone tell me how hard econ20A is?

Tetsu:

Vista just entered the market so it’s a bit hard for me to answer this. I don’t have Vista, but I do have Windows x64. Because UCI knows it’s hard for me to get anti-virus program (a sort of anti-virus program is required to access resnet), I was able to access the network without any protection. The note could mean a few of the following: UCI’s network will act the same way as they did to me with Vista, UCI will not offer tech support to those who own vista computers, or UCI will stop allowing Vista and winx64 (sadface).

Ddbb:

The best way to check is via ratemyprofessor. Generally, the economics department at UCI is known to be the most relaxed. Econ 20A should be really easy. Go ahead and add. Drop accordingly.

hey Jason! can you tell me the website that the UCI professors had their course outline for the quarter ( as well as the book required for their classes because I don't want to wait for the UCI book store to update..)

Tetsu:

I would wait for the UCI bookstore to update, unless the prof already posted it online. Here's the website for class websites by subject then professor.

http://eee.uci.edu/

there is a drop box on the top right corner that you can use to surf through previous quarters.

haha, well looks like econ was filled up so i signed up for intro to psych 7a. is that class hard? it makes my total schedule out to be 17 units with biosci93, biosci2a, writing 39b, and chem1a additionally.

I took Psych 7A my freshman year fall quarter, too. It requires a LOT of reading, but if you do all the reading (it's pretty interesting) and go to discussion, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. I had a similar fall schedule, except I had Math 2A instead of WR39B, which was I found to be a lot less time-consuming... but like everyone keeps suggesting, you should see how it goes for the first couple of weeks and drop if you feel you need to. =)

What's the difference between Basic Physics and Classical Physics? I'm not sure which one to take.

uknohu:

Basic physics is very conceptual and deals with less math including calculus related concepts. This is basically the most watered down physics courses UCI offers. Classical physics is a course series designed particularly for scientists and engineers. It goes more in-depth with physics topics and emphasizes the mathematics of physics. This series would be more difficult than basic physics.

I got an email telling me to pay an amount which is mainly the registration fee. One page says that it is due on Sept 21 and another page says it is due on Aug 17.

I entered my bank account number to set up the online payment. When I submitted the payment, it came back the same page without confirmation. Anyone has the problem.

Which office do I go to verify that I am a full time student?

Writing 39 A
Psychology 7A
Chem 1A
Bio 93

Is that too much???

Oh and my major is Public Health Sciences...
I have to choose three social and behavioral science courses for my lower division requirements...
I originally planned on taking psychology 7a along with two econ classes... but since psychology requires a lot of reading (and I don't like reading...)would it be better to take 3 econ classes ? ( i am already taking one right now for summer school)

UCI Lover:

Sorry can't help you there

confident:

Why do you need to do that? Having 12 units or above places you as a full time student.

dratinisunny:

That's a good, stable schedule. You're an incoming freshman so if things are getting out of hand make sure you consider dropping a course. A social life or lack of time management experience can hinder you.

So for my first quarter of the first year, my schedule so far is:

Physics 7A + Lab
ICS21 + Lab
Economics 1

Being a Math major with no math classes (full or reserved), this is just beautiful. I'm hoping there aren't any more CSE students enrolling in Math 2B by the end of mid-September. So potentially, with good placement test results, my schedule could be:

Physics 7B + Lab
ICS21 + Lab
Math 2B
Korean 2B

With that said, to ask it bluntly, what's the chance of a student on a waitlist of a course being accepted?

birdkiller, that is sadness.

?:(

I got it to work this morning. Maybe it was too late at night or they were doing backup.

I paid anyway, either the deadline was Aug 17 or Sept 21.

Jason: I need that for my medical insurance under my parents. I will be 19 and has to be a full time student or else the insurance company will drop me.

confident:

If you need to get some sort of written proof that you're a full-time student, just head to the administration office and ask for it. It should be simple to obtain. Call beforehand to know where in the building you need to go.

To get proof for medical insurance, you need to fill out a form for request of enrollment verification. Pay $6 at the cashier's window in Aldrich Hall, and then take it the registrar's office...they'll print you a verification and you're set.
