i was wondering what's the chances are of being accepted into Writing 39B when i just registered today to waitlist into it while waitlist was still open, it says 4 people including me are waitlisted and that the class size is 21 and the req is 32... also do professors usually allow you to go into their class the first day and ask them to sign an add slip?

oh i also, if the class type says SEM, then that means there are no discussions right? because in there are no dis listed underneath the SEM

sorry jason but i have a few more questions to ask. we dont have to attend class or anything right after finals right? and about discussions when do we start going to them? right when school starts or when the teacher tells us to becuase my discussions are days before my lectures. (i hope i make sense) .. oo and i dont have my uci id. how important is it? when do we get it?

Are you talking about your ID card?

Get your id during welcome week (or earlier)

Do we have to get reservation for welcome week?
And by the way did anyone else got a letter about the Speed Reading and Study Strategies course. They said it's offer this fall. Is anybody gonna take it?

is it going to take longer than about 10 minutes to get from one class to another class skateboarding or on the shuttle? Also, what type of class is humanities... and do you have to take Humanities Core 1A Lec with the Humanities Core 1A WRT Discussion class even though the DIS is another four units? Does Your major impact if you have to take the DIS?

I got it too, sweetdream, but I haven't heard anything about it, so I don't know if it's worth it.

There is still a chance you will get into the writing class, but at the waitlist position of 4, it might be a little low. Stay and and wait to see. A lot of people drop writing. Although I know it's possible to get an add card signed to go over the limit, I haven't seen TAs or Profs willing to do it except for one in anthropology.

SEM means seminar so there are no discussions for writing.

10 minutes is about enough time to get from class to class. However going from Mesa Court to class might take 15-20 min. Humcore is an actual 8 unit course. The unit is split up as you've seen it. You MUST enroll in both if you want to participate in humcore. Know what you're signing into if you join humcore.

Go to your discussion section on the first days. Some will take place and some will not. Don't take a chance. Also, once finals are finished, there should be no class so I don't see it possible to go to class.

sweetdream:

What do you mean reservation for welcome week? The course you're talking about is a seminar. If you want to acquire what it says, you should definitely check it out.

thanks jason!!! so how far would it be from ICS to the ELH building? hopefully they are close, because i only have 10 minutes to get to the ELH building from ICS... do the instructors usually let you get out on time?

ICS to ELH is nothing. They're almost right next to each other. It won't even take a minute. =)

As for instructors letting you out on time: in my experience, most of them do. But those who insist on continuing lecture overtime can't really do much about students leaving... except maybe in discussions.

oh chill thanks so much jess067 really appreciate it... haha cuz i was getting ready to hustle my board all the way throughout the school!

i'm number 1 on the waitlist for a certain writing 39b class.

am i supposed to attend the class like normal even if i'm on the waitlist? any special procedure i need to do?

thanks.

The Brian: I think you're supposed to attend class like normal for the first week. I remember my writing TA's asking the class who's on the waitlist. I don't know what happens next though. But yeah, you do attend class. =)

ok i'm starting uci in the fall of 2007 and i noticed that my math teacher had really bad ratings on rate my professor his name is Villareal, Oscar so i'm signed up for my math 2a class with him, but noticing that rite now, i waitlisted in lehram, rachel's class. so what should i do to get teh waitlisted class?

concerned707: Attend Lehman's class. Last year, she had all the waitlisted students sign a piece of paper saying they're on the waitlist. She'll tell you what to do afterwards (last year she had all of us bring an add card to her office after class a couple days later). She's really nice and generous about adding people into her class. Be sure to drop your current math class before bringing your signed add card to the registrar's office. Good luck! =)

jess067: thanks :D that was really helpful :D

can i double major in physics and math, since i am not sure due to both being in the same department , thanks

Yeah.

lengthening...

brusselsprouts1:

they are in the same school. but they are different departments. Im a math major myself. and it can get kind of difficult. But it can be done. There is nothing against doubling in the two. Look into minors though, since they are simpler and faster to do.
