I meant advanced to Finalist Weekend. There was only one round for my area.

Nice. Well you're in UVa at this point. That must be a nice feeling.

I'm sure it will be a better feeling though when yeswecan gets the scholarship, haha. Good luck

I believe yeswecan has already gotten the Jefferson scholarship--he/she is just being kind enough to let us nominees know more about the whole process (!).

Oh haha! I remember that now!

The way those last few posts were written it seemed like it could've been in the present. Funny.

That's right. Just trying to help.

How long after the interview did you receive your phone call, if you can remember? Same day?

Pons, the people told me today that we should find out by the end of the week. There will be a delay for MLKJ day and then they have the run the finalists' names through UVa admissions, but they specifically said by the end of the week.

good luck! this time is the worst in the college application process...
there's nothing you can really do, but all the decisions are being made in these moments.. both scholarship and admissions

I'm going to be in the middle of midterms thinking about this darn scholarship, haha. It'll be hard to concentrate, hopefully they tell us sooner rather than later.

Anyone in GA region hear anything from Regional Committee? Initial interview was the 10th! Thanks.

Got my info for the philly region. I made it to the next round!!!!!!!! Theres 6 people left and 1 will go to Charlottesville

Oh that's nice! I think I hear tomorrow or Friday if I go to nationals. I'm so nervous/excited!

I had my first regional interview today; they told us all initially that there would be two rounds of interviews. I got a phone call later tonight that said that I am the only person they chose to ask back to the second round--presumably, this means I am the Finalist from Charlotte NC

Hey nice job! Congrats. Perhaps I'll see you there. But maybe not. We'll see.

I just got back from my interview in NJ...there was a panel of four alumni, with one woman who mentioned that she had been a Jefferson Scholar...the interview was tough, and I mostly just rambled. Hopefully some miracle stroke of luck takes place - in our state it's 42 nominees --> 6 for a second round interview ----> 2 to VA

Well good luck! What sort of questions were there? And this was the first round I'll assume?

itsasmallworld,

did they tell you by when they would let you know whether you would move to the next round of interviews?

yes, they should notify you after the first interview, either way.

I interviewed in Atlanta for first round, and was notified by email about 9 days later that I didn't need to come back. Sad...but I can't complain. they were really nice, open people.

hyeonjlee,

They didn't tell me at the interview when I would be notified, but I was emailed a few hours later and invited to come back for the second round on Thursday. I never expected to make it, and was really happy to find out.
