Congratulations!

How were you notified? And did you complete two separate interviews or just one?

I had to go through two interviews. They had 150 kids in my state, chose 100 to interview based on our applications, chose 9 from those after the first interview, then they chose 3 from those 9 after another interview. My first interview had 4 people from the committee, they rotated with questions. My next interview had 6 people from the committee, same style just more people. I was called by the director of my state’s committee and then I got an email two days later confirming.

My daughter has her first round interview tomorrow. What kind of questions did they ask?

Congrats and good luck!

Congrats, when did you do your interview?

Which region do you belong? Even I am international student and have it on 4 Feb

How was your daughter’s interview? What questions were asked? Please guide. Thanks in advance.

@chewysnowball it went ok. They asked questions about her activities, and other questions, like
what was the most recent book you read that you enjoyed,
describe someone you know the exemplifies the 3 pillars of the Jefferson Scholar ( leadership, scholarship , and citizenship.)
A question about UVA’s honor code
If she were HS’s principal what would she change about her school

That’s all I can remember!

I’m from India. Wbu?

Hi! Just received my first Jefferson interview, and am a little confused. Wondering if anyone here might have any insight.

I was nominated by my school to apply for the Jefferson Scholarship, and filled out the scholarship application that was due Dec 1. But the email I received today says that I’ll be interviewing with the “At-Large Schools Committee”, rather than as part of any regional pool.

Did some Googling - it appears that the “At-Large pool” is made up of candidates who didn’t apply to the Jefferson, but were chosen by UVA based on their Common Applications. Which is weird, because I did actually apply to the Jefferson, and I definitely live in an area that has a regional selection process.

My parents seem convinced this means I got into UVA. I’m not so sure. Anyone have an idea what this means, or if I’m reading too much into it?

Thanks a lot

Even I am also from India. My interview is at 8.15 eastern time on 4 Feb. What about yours?

It’s most likely that your school is not in an established region. Good luck with the interview!

When is your interview? Please let us know what kinds of questions they ask from the at-large group. My DS is hoping to be referred through admissions. Good luck!

@KitBlue do you know when we will find out about referral through admissions?

I think soon after admission decisions are released–seems like a long shot with the number of applicants but still hopeful
