Jerome Fisher M&T Summer Institute 2014 Question

<p>I am currently applying for the M&T Summer Institute at UPenn, and so right now I am asking teachers to write my letters of recommendation. I do have a couple of questions though:</p>

<ol>
<li><p>What exactly are the adcoms for the program looking to find in the letters/overall application?</p></li>
<li><p>Is there something specific that I should ask my teachers to touch on/describe in the letter, or is a general letter what is wanted?</p></li>

<p>From what I hear, a passion for interdisciplinary learning is a good start… connecting things across disciplines. The more specific the better obviously (engineering and business). Overall, math is incredibly important foundationally for what goes on in M&T, but at the summer institute, I’ve heard it’s more of a cursory look at business/engineering/their intersections (that’s not to say math isn’t important).</p>
