Can anyone out there tell me just how selective the summer institute is? According to the website, they will take up to 50 students (generally rising seniors), but exactly how selective is it? Thanks!

I attended the program last year, and not to sound obnoxious, but almost all the students were VERY intelligent and hardworking. From two years ago more than 45/50 got into an Ivy, Stanford or MIT.

It is a very strenuous program (3-4 hours of sleep tops if you want to do well)

Thanks confused. Does the 3-4 hours of sleep include weekends as well? Also, what makes it so strenuous? I looked at a sample itinerary and it seems as if it is mostly project work. Can you elaborate? Thanks again!

Sounds like this would have been fun.

(Not sarcasm, btw! Really sounds like it would have been interesting - I wish I had applied this summer!)

What are my chances of getting into school of engineering?

I was a Residential Teaching Advisor for two years for the M&TSI program so I can tell you the program is strictly selective though it’ s a little bit easier to get into the program (re: considerably so) than the actual 4 year undergraduate program. Though we were’nt privvy to the actual selection process it requires a considerable amount of extracurricular that show a vested interest in both sides of the program.

As the teaching advisor do you know if you have better chances of getting into either wharton or the school of engineering after completing the M&TSI

the 5 that didnt get in was it because they received scholarships at other schools or they were not as smarrt, or lazy, or low sat scores, what was the reasoning behind that
